Yeah they can use it to climb more easily in the turret.

I cant answer for canada, but we danes use it on pretty much everything (including the Leopard), we have pretty much the exact same stuff as canada in all aspects of ground warfare.

I think they do use the MG3 on the Leapord 2 as the current ones are on lease and not bought, so they are just using the German Equipment. Once we get the bought ones, they'll change them.
