Sniping + Pubber= BAD

Ok so im with the 13th MEU. Last night we where playing Assault on Mestia right, we where on the British side and me and my fellow member we out working
as a sniper team (i had Sniper he had SF) and we had a pretty good spot on a hill behind a log in front of the first Militia base to the right of the map. So i got like 3 kills right it was going good no one saw us. Then right out of nowhere a pubber jumps up about 3 meters away and starts pounding away at the bunker, me and my spotter are like WTF!!! so we tried to get out but of course the pubber attracted 5 militia players who layed waste to my spotter. I happened to get away, but guess who follows me the PUBBER!!!! and he keeps shooting at the bunker which is like 300 meters away and way out of effective range for the British rifle, in the end i get killed, because a pubber gave away my position

It's not the biggest map to ensure your own side aren't going to walk past you, but I guess the player was a bit lacking in commonsense or even knew what he was doing.

On that map though, you can't miss a Brit sniper rifle going off and there are people who make it their lifes work to race towards the sound of that rifle and stab the holder! There is also the possibility here that the player was deliberately trying to give your position away of course.

A good spot on a hill behind a log in front of the flag wich is within 300 metres, even after you,ve moved away.
There will be always a sh*t load of militia-men patrolling those hills looking for anything interesting, that wasn't a good spot.

this kind of thing is usually what gets me killed as a sniper. im off minding my own busness. taking out important targets like HAT kits and some tool will come stand next to me shooting like nobodys busness. or a squad will set a rally next to me or a helicopter will hover over me expecting that i want a lift. if you see a friendly sniper just leave him the heck alone unless he is askin for assistance.

nope im fully supporting my squad and team by reporting movement to the commander and my squad and removing key enemy units like heavy AT thats lineing up to take down our armor and squad leaders. i just dont usualy have someone willing to be my security team or spotter very often. when i do though its great. for some strange reason people just assume when someone is snipeing that they arent supporting the team. this is very foolish misconception.

Last time I was in a sniper team as spotter on Basrah, the sniper was so pathetic, I was thinking about brining up the Land Rover we had for escape (although he insisted that I don't even touch it, since we are in the leetest spot ever and don't need it) and use it's .50 cal to nail all the Insurgents 200m away from us, he couldn't kill any of them and when we got overrun (the Insurgents he failed to kill, annihilated the friendly squad attacking that spot, so they focused on us).

I went for the Rover and took out 3 Insurgents and a bomb car heading for us while I was nervously waiting next to him to jump into the Landy as we have been compromised, he acted like it's nothing and as we drove away he went 'ok when are we going back so I can snipe?'....

I don't mind snipers, but most of them never use common sense or can't hit anything or just want the kit for the leetness, even though it's absolutely no help to their squad.
Like I really want a guy who only has a pistol and some silly trip flares he can use when I'm about to go in a clear an area full of guys with heavy weaponry.

ah ha. i understand what your saying here, but these people arent doing their job either because they are too stupid to know the roll or are just to "kit happy" and have no real practice. at 200 meters any shot should be a peice of cake especialy on an open map like brasara. sorry to hear you had to deal with someone like that. they give all snipers a bad name for no reason. these people are just like the tards that go and grab the A10 or a helicopter and either dont do the job or crash it right away. its the same idea basicly.

the really unfortunate thing is i would have to say alot of people who tend to grab this kit dont fill the roll so the real benifits of having even a decent sniper on your team dont show too often. the should be obviously taking out targets of oppertunity as well as helping any ground team they can keep overwatch on. at the same time the should be providing information to their squad about troops in the area as well as information to the commander. instead however most seem to simply be only focused on getting kills rather then doing the whole bit. even if you have a good sniper however, unless you are in direct contact with them you will most likely not realize exactly how much assistance they are providing to the team.
