Insurgent Role play

After countless hours spent on Basra and recently Op Archer, I have come to the most esteemed conclusion that the insurgents are being unrealistically played. The Taliban, Mahdi army and other militant factions do not have military training, to the standard of any nation. Consequently they do not fight like other armies. It saddens me to see people in PR playing the Insurgents like they would US Marines or British infantry. In real life, they don’t take careful, precise shots, aiming each one to perfection. They leap round the corner and spray for all their worth, then wonder why their gun has stopped firing whilst being torn apart by 5.56 fire. In real life, they do not execute masterfully planned room clearing tactics, they run inside the room, and shoot anything remotely western looking.

Therefore, from now on, whenever I am playing insurgents, I will be running a INS RP squad, dedicated to realistically using the insurgent faction to its full potential. This means, generally, getting shot. But having a damn good time doing so. I've made a few "test" squads, on some servers, and had pretty good results. The semi-auto switch was unknown to us, as we sprinted down the winding streets of Basra, unleashing 600RPM of doom at everything that moves, standing on roof tops whilst raining death down on those below, not hitting a thing. It was fun though. I welcome you all to join me, in my crusade against "gamerism" in PR INS game modes by forming similar squads of your own. Together, we shall destroy the Yankee-Zionist pig-dog invaders and their allies!

Remember, for the game to be fully realistic, the players have to do their part, even more so than the Devs.

Actually a lot of the Insurgents do train, they have training camps for them. Most of which you are right, they just pick up a gun and fight. Some very un-prepared. However, I hardly think that Insurgents in real-warfare fight like mindless drones, some just spray and pray not knowing any better but also some pick there shots as a lot of realistic combat is done by pretty far range, unless the soldiers are ambushed. If you ever tried spray and praying far range, the effectivness of it rather rubbish.

As for sweep and clearing, that is not part of the Insurgents job and haven't really seen that. Insurgents job are to protect the weapon caches, what I see a lot of Insurgents dug into some cover behind walls, and in buildings shooting at enemy soldiers. Any sweep and clearing missions they do, if they suspect a enemy soldier is positioned in a building, most likely sniper and they want to take them out. In reality, if the Insurgents found out that a enemy sniper or soldier was in a building taking out your soldiers, you would go in and kill him. What most players do in PR, and generally most video games is just run in the building with the sights on or without them and sweep it. Which is pretty much a Insurgent style as the soldier style is one guy kicking down the door as the rest rush in covering room by room, floor by floor as a squad.

LMAO! That paragraph cracks me up. I don't know just imagine that the best players on the insurgent side have had prior spetznaz training, or are elite hired mercs lol. Alot of players are actually "play" worse than RL insurgents though so it balances out I think. It's the equipment more than anything that creates the general balance and insurgents are at a major disadvantage in that department.

If this was true, Afghanistan and Iraq would be a walk in the park. I think its safe to say that its not.
