What REAAAAAAAAAAAALY pi$$es me off lately i have found that when i get in a squad and the squad leader dies they leave the squad and rejoin when they spawn.

Ok when squad hopping was around this worked fine but leaving the next person in charge without an officer kit in the middle of a hot firefight or out in the middle of nowhere its really feking annoying after about the 5th or 6th time.

Sometimes i go SL most of the time im not too bothered and just want to be a grunt and get into the action. However when ppl squad switch it really confuses gameplay for me and doesnt do much good for squad morale and cohesion.

However that said it can be a really damn good experience when you get a good squadleader. Ive been under Maz' command a couple of times and hes pretty damn good.

When alls said and done all you can expect from a squadleader in pub play is to grab an officer kit and set rally points. Anything else is a bonus, if your squad leader throws out tactical moves etc then it gets REALLY good.

Yeah, like they say, stick at it.

Thumbs down

I just played a rather irritating session in one of the Chinese village maps. I made a squad as the others were full and we had one and a half squads worth of unassigned people. So I was squad leader with three underlings. I went and got an Officer kit from an APC and set a movement order behind a rock between two control points. I also sent a message saying 'Setting up rally point'. Cue frustration.

I mean, fair enough that one of my members was away in the hills on the other side of the map, all by his lonesome. No prob, there were three people near me. The problem was that while two people responded pretty much right away (I had given an attack order and we'd taken casualties, so we were spread out), but the other one completely ignored the order. He turned tail and ran off for the front. And he was perhaps twenty meters away. It wasn't like he was on the other side of the map, having been kidnapped by a beginner driving a car into Nothingwhere. Had I been a civilian, I could've chucked a rock at him, he was so near. I mean, there was the fact that he'd bear the horrific inconvenience of turning around and, in order to get to me, walk around a ten meters long wall (the Bataan death march comes to mind), but I thought heroics were a part of the antics of the People's Liberation Army. But off he went. My two loyal people saw that there was no rallying point to be had, and headed off. I saw there was no rallying point to be had, and gave the squad a new order. Then I kicked the deserter.

I found myself wishing it was within my powers as a squad leader to execute unruly minions, but for some reason this is punished and considered detrimental to the team ('eh?). This, coupled with the angry Commander who yelled out very important orders - I caught the word 'Immediately!' - orders through a mic crackling so badly no one could understand him, cued me to exit the server. Oh well, I'll try again next time.

By the way, is there a way to make it so that you can't get a new kit if you've just been kicked from a squad? Would be really nice to have.

i love being a SL, best part of the game for me...

for example, ordered my whole squad to attack the river flag on sunset, i held about 30 meters away, and watched the carnage... took about 2 attempts for 5 people to get in, kill every, destroy the command bunker and take the flag, when it was neutral, i moved into a nice defensible postion and took the flag, while the sl's of the other squads moved to the next flag.

Good SL'ers are what makes the team do well, but i wish there was a in game VOIP way to speak to the SL'r directly, like you can the commander/your own squad.

I remember i was a SL in my first game(EJOD desert), there were about 15 on each team and 2 squads which were full and no commander. I, having read the manual, thought that it was best to create a new squad. So i gave it a custom name as the manual had thought me and before i even knew it people started pouring in!!
So the first thing i do is i open up the map and see where the other squads are, and if they need any help. Since i had no clue what to do i asked my Squadmembers what would be best. Then they asked me if i was new, i then replied: "Yes, shud i leave and rejoin?". However he said it was fine. So we move up on the city with my 4 men squad. We help secure city along with the 1st Squad and 2nd squad starts moving up.
Then i typed in team (no commander darnit! ) that me and my squad would stay in defense and the 2 others could move up.
So its just us four (1 Rifle,1 Medic,1 Officer and 1 support) holding the city CP. So i (try to) organize my men into defensive positions and then i just watch me sector. then i go back for a few seconds and see how everyones doing, only to get AMBUSHED once i got back! I left for those few seconds and they were waiting for it. I immediatly start yelling that there incoming from west. After that i left since i was hungry

Here you have my first experience in PR and my first experience as a SL.

I usually enjoy being a grunt from time to time, as I have more freedom and less stuff to worry about.

But then again, when I start planning my own stuff, which crosses with the SL's plans, I usually leave and start my own.

[R-DEV]Gaz: Shout "WE R L33TZ" at the MD, sucker punch him, then teabag him while shouting "WHO OWNS YA? WHO OWNS YA? SAY OUR NAME! IGI! IGI! IGI! OFP2 Beta plz?"

With your aim, it would have hit him in the head.

This new trend I see, start up a squad named f.ex. VOIP+TM and then leave when you get 5 people and rejoin? I fully understand that people leave/rejoin. Why? Well, my personal experience is that if I join a squad then I do so because I don't want to lead. If I wanted to have 5 merry smucks under my command, I'd start it up myself. In fairness, I do report in and say that I did not start the squad, and I prefer somebody else take command.
