Snipers Rule!!! - My hour of fun

well after having a terrable time on one sever, with players team killing,
dieing for no reason, getting killed straight after choosing kit, and so on...

i changed sever, found myself starting a new round, on Muttrah City
got the sniper kit straight away, headed up to the top of the crane
(i was mec side)

thats where my fun started.
i took out a 7 man crew chopper, landed then sniped all of them,

took out many many squads running from one point to another.

best one was a full small helicopter and it was heading over the water as far as i could see. i managed to sniped a dude hanging of the side at the back, was the funniest thing i done,

i only died twice, due to running out of ammo, and running back to get some.
otherwise would have had a few more kills

these was my scores at the end of the round, (i think one of my best rounds)
i think i hit around 500+ on another sever awhile back, but for just pure sniper i didnt think i did too bad, considering i didnt move too.

my res is 1920x1200 so made them smaller for everyone to view,

LOVE SNIPER RIFLES,
and love hitting people when they run, there bodies fly so funny.

cya on the battlefield,
CooliceT

True, but he prevented a lot of infantry and helicopters from attacking his own units

And thats why everyone hates snipers.

They climb to the highest point they can and dont give precision fire where its needed, on the front line.

Well most do that anyway. Try following behind your squad or helping other squads that need backup against troops out of range.

yep, 0 teamwork points, but you didnt see how many troops i took down trying to come behind our lines,

from the back of the hills on the map, to the side of the hotel.
any troop that went on the roof, died, not to mention the ammount of "spotted" i shouted, yep, it doesnt count as team work points, but i was in a team, and if i didnt spot of snipe those players... it wouldnt have been so easy, think we won like 300-0

plus its very easy for the mecs to defend that map, and usa attack.

but its hard for any sniper to follow there group and stay behind them, specially city maps, and if i did that, it would have been a different round, and alot less points.

snipers get there points on distance and what situation i killed them.
and i can see only the iGi members commented on 0 team work points,

we all play different types of gameplay, i prefer to hold back and pick people off.
thats how i role, and at the moment for a sniper you dont get teamwork points for doing that,

unless i ran with a team, but i would not last long as a sniper doing that,

but loved it

its funny how the round before, i joined that crappy sever, was -12 when i first spawned into a helicopter that died, and with the team killers.

and how the next round different sever all changes, it was fun

You see CooLice it's not you personally but people like you.
Yes, you did kill a lot of people.
What isn't mentioned is that the other team kinda sucked based on the score difference and the fact that nobody counter-sniped you.
If it were unlimited then there would be 25% of the team, thinking just like you, haunting every high point on the map while the other team just keeps capping flags.
I am so glad that there is only 1 or 2 sniper kits and none if the server pop is too low.
Again, this is nothing personal but like " I'm an uber pilot" types I just hate dedicated sniper types because their focus is on shooting people and getting points not winning the round.
I saw a pilot, I think Manhunt, come in first place on a map with 0 kills and 0 deaths, the diametric opposite of your score.
If we had to lose one man, again no offense, I would rather lose the high scoring guy w/ no teamwork points and keep the guy that scored highest simply by being a team player.

It's really simple: PR is not about points. More so than any other game I ever played, PR is not about getting to the top of the scoreboard. It is quite the opposite of BF2 in that way, where scorewhoring is encouraged by the crappy stats system. In PR, what matters is your team winning, and on the individual level, you helping your teammates win with you.

Back when i played VBF2, well towards the end of my time on the game i sniped every round all round, I'll admit it was purely because i wanted to kill not really to cap flags or any team work related thing, BUT...

I did it without climbing a ladder and lying there all round. I did by following my team around as they got flags, whilst they were in the cap zone i'd be in a spot where i could see all of them and most if not all the entry points to that cap zone e.g roads, door ways etc...

On the way to these flags I'd be at the back of the assault shooting out guys who were too far away and still on their way to the fight or other snipers, high priority targets etc... Whilst doing this i'd be gradually moving up behind my team aswell. Dont get me wrong this wasnt me trying to be a team player it was just me playing the sniper kit how i felt it should be played.

Most snipers i think have watched too many films where the sniper is always on his own on a building/crane/whatever is higher than everything else shooting everything. Well you can infact play it a different a just as effective way. I got just as a good score as you have been talking about every round consistantly. All you had to do was headshot everything you saw, which isnt a problem is PR because a body shot kills 95% of the time anyway.

This type of sniper tactic could easily be used in PR, just follow your squad hang back. I did this today as squad leader with the british SUSAT rifle. MY squad got the flag whilst i shot everyone spawning on their command truck thus stoping their advance, would have been even easier with the sniper kit. Also today i was play SL again, we desperatly needed a sniper in our squad because the m14 scope didnt have enough zoom so we couldnt take out the targets in the flag that were pinning us down about 300 meters otuside of the cap zone. Just some food for thought...
