Yeah out of couriosity... When did the latest official real life dogfight occur?
Pretty hard to find something about it on the web but I get the feeling there might be someone on this forum who knows.

Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading

I think it may have been during the Vietnam war, something about the first supersonic dogfight (US using the F4).
Edit: Actually, according to good ol' wikipedia, it seems to have been during the Gulf War: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dogfight#Persian_Gulf_War

Not sure what you mean by official, but probably the latest that actually resulted in a shoot-down was during Operation Allied Force (also when the F-117 was downed), seems to be a MiG-29 shot down by F-16s according to Wikipedia (1999 NATO bombing of Yugoslavia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

Last air to air engagements between fighters as far as I know occurred during the 2008 South Ossetia war - no kills, but a Georgian drone was also shot down by Russian (manned) aircraft if you'd count that.

Also I'm sure in the never ending African wars there have been other engagements but I don't know too much about them - something more recent may have happened down there.

The Falklands war did feature instances where Harriers shot down their opponents with cannon when they ran out of sidewinders, but I dunno if there any classic dog fights

I remember in the Eritrean–Ethiopian War allegedly had a dogfight between Ethiopian SU-27's and Eritrean MiG-29's, with the Flanker emerging as the victor.

When was the last kill with guns? Probably Vietnam I would imagine.

Yeah most likely the A-7 Corsair II, also known as "the last gunfighter" shoot down MiG's in the Vietnam War. When the Air Force and the Navy replaced most of the A-7s with F-4 Phantoms toward the end of the war, it only carried Sidewinders.

Also I read somewhere that a decade ago Turkish and Greek F-16s had a little standoff, strange seeing two potential NATO countries having such a territory argument.

Very true, but by the year 2000 I thought the memories of the Crypiot War were behind their backs, altough the island is still divided in two...
