What i like about anime that it sometimes can get away with stuff that just wouldn't work in say American series. Stuff that would be overdramatic or just unrealistic if done by real actors.

For example:

My interest in it is mainly due to how anime still embraces frame animation, though a lot is being digitised and 3D elements are finding sometimes rather creative ways of being integrated.

All the background work is in 3D, which is a visual treat when combined with the conventional 2D animation.

WRT the fans.. well every group has their bad, obnoxious eggs.

HEY BRAH! YOU DONT TALK ABOUT ANIMU LIKE THAT BRAH!

tbh I'm not a big fan of amine but you can't say anything wrong about shows like Ghost In The Shell and Cowboy Bebop, hell even Black Lagoon is good too. Some of you gotta watch these shows then judge (I hated amine till I started watching Ghost and Bebop)

Personally I consider myself an anime fan and mangaka wannabe. =P

Like many I used to be very much into animes like Dragon Ball and pokemon but eventually I growed tired of watching series that apparently can go forever (Well DG isn't really putting out new episodes but it's still pretty long to watch from start to end).

Today my kind of shows are more adult oriented. Series like Black Lagoon, Ghost in the Shell, Gasaraki, etc. I recently just watched an old anime from the early 2000s called "Monster" which is set around Germany and the Czech Republic between the 80s and the 90s. Very good actually. Totally NOT your typical anime

Perhaps the most dull anime I actually like is the FMP series. But that's cuz the Sagara Sousuke character is a bit hard to not relate with if you're into military topics.

I find a bit sad that many of these shows get put together to other anime series to which they have little in common. Anime is a really broad generalization of what is a large variety of shows of different genres, artistical styles and story presentations. Pokemon for example is absolutely nothing like Neon Genesis Evangelion or Gasaraki.

But I guess I have to blame the large "anime" fan-base, that gives many of these shows a bad name. I like Anime, can't say the same about the fan-base that is extremely expressesive about it.

Anime is awesome, plain and simple awesome. Animes such as Darker Than Black are cool. But i like Fairy Tail as well for example. Its a bit more to the general anime but i just like it.

I'm not an overly big anime fan, watched some of it, mostly the stuff that was around when I was a kid like Pok?mon and Baneblades. never got into Yu-gi-oh.
I really got into Full Metal panic at one point, but thats the only anime series i've properly watched and gotten into.
Loved Princess Mononoke and spirited away. Brilliant movies. it all taste really.
