Well up until now Bioware had a nice track record with the Mass Effect series. While part 2 took away a few things I liked they also added new things I liked. Even in part 3 things held up pretty nicely until I realized that no matter what one does it won't make any (real) difference. Of course the ending not making much sense at all didn't help either.

Well never played any of them as ... well the gameplay looks like crap imo

But what I do find interesting is how much people seem to have immersed themselves into the games universe and thus the strong reaction to a "meh" ending.

Reminds me a bit of the reaction to LOSTs last episode

Glad I did not care to get into that series. Seems the ending did not please many people either. But from the few bits & pieces of Lost that came to my attention it didn't look like they had any chance of creating something I'd consider a coherent or believable story. But that was just my impression from the little scattered material I picked up during it's run.

I guess much of a problem arises when a story is told over a long period and picks up a lot of different fans along the way. People will imagine how things should proceed while waiting for the official continuation. If those ideas diverge and one does not like the way things turn out it will be hard to accept the continuation. With the internet there is also a greater exchange between the fans that can lead to such things like a movement against the way things develop.

I just read about the Highlander movies and how they added the idea of the immortals coming from another planet in the second part. Then later on this whole idea was dropped again and there is even an alternate cut what completely removes any reference to this. I'm not certain if they made this because of the fans or critics or just because they wanted to improve things. But they did change the movie (from what I hear for the better).

Really slow but the ME3 Datapad app for Iphone/Ipad can help the Readiness level. Been too lazy to turn on my 360 since ive been playing Shogun 2, so Ive been using that.
