For those wanting to switch to PRMM to ET:QW...

[quote]So what is it that separates Quake Wars with similar team FPS games out there? Simple: Options, options, options. Enemy Territory pits up to 24 players together in a 12 on 12 objective-based battle.[quote]

They say the "sweetspot" for MP is 16v16 players, but that is still really low when you think that 2-4 players will be in vehicles possibly(judging by videos), some will run off and lone wolf or sniper, and some will be helping to repair stuff and bridges which are part of the objective. So with 16v16, that really only leaves 8v8 battles which are not much at all. It is hard to get the real large scale battlefield effect with only that number of people. Their maps also look pretty straight forward in that you have to take objects in a line, so that may encourage battles, but it will not enable the large scale battles that we have now in PRMM and VBF2.

So that kind of eliminates squad v squad combat and is more geared towards players just saying together and fighting with customizable kits.

Judging by the videos also, the maps look somewhat big, but probably half the size of BF2's but just with more areas focused on fighting. But that still eliminates a lot of elements of BF2 and PRMM.

Check out of vids and judge for yourself.

The maps aren't a concern. I think they are 1km by 1km, which if I am correct, is twice the size of Muttra 64p (that includes all the water, non combat zones, etc).

16x16 might seem a bit small, but RO plays well with that amount. Although I would rather have 20 or 25 per team.

it looks great but i'm waiting for Armed Assault.
I guess i'm a psychopath...i want to shoot people not aliens.
and there is a certain level of loyalty to the PR franchise, because they have worked so hard to bring realism to BR2 and this is space marines stuff.
And it's based on twitch shooters which does not favor my old and slow type of game play.
007 Goldeneye....taught me to shoot people and i can't generate the same excitement shooting a wookie wanna be.

It is not the ablility to suffer that makes men great.
Even women and slaves can attain mastery of that.
To inflict great suffering and not be overcome with distress and doubt when you hear the cries of suffering, that is great, a pact of greatness.

I will buy ETQW wars any way and AA.

BUT REMEBER to make ETQW a bit more realistic, all it will take will abit more recoil, slower run speeds, clean up the hud, adjust kits abit, and a few new maps centred soely around teamwork - not exasctly hard, things like can be done in a matter of months and make a game, in the eyes of a few, thousands times better.

THe same goes for COD2 but i dont think there is actually a decent one though, which sucks.

Aliens in ET:QW would have to go for me to have any interest, but surely someone will make a mod.

The more I learn about it, the more I like it, but... also.. the more I think it would have to be "unquaked" to be something that would interest me over the long term.

Cheers!

in a PCZONE(uk) one of the armed assualt devs said theres no limit on the max about of players just what servers can handle.

so we might see even larger ones depending on the netcode and what servers can handle.
