Sigh, people don't listen, ET:QW supports up to 64 players (possibly more im not sure if that's where its capped) 24-32 is just the recommended number as fighting is concentrated in one area.

Think of it this way in a normal vBF2 game how many players do you actually meat? its normaly no more than 10-15 enemy players at any one time mabye a bit more if its there last flag.

As for realism im looking forward to someone making a mod for ET:QW that gives that and if no one is I will do it myself, its one of the main aspects im looking forward to most, the modding ability's ET:QW will bring will be far superior than anything B2142 will offer.

trogdor: im prety sure OFP fanbase is large enuff that when ArmA comes out there will be PLENTY of players

think about it, a game mode that lasts for DAYS!!! you have to take over an entire island! when you logout, your character is taken over by AI.

this is what many of us have been waiting for, for a long long time. no more repetitive maps and the feeling like done that, been there. each new 'campaign' can be played so many different ways, and you have a whole weekend to see it through.

Or actually to all work together.

And I doubt that the Doom 3 engine will still be playable if you go over 32 players. They said that was the sweet spot and the D3 engine has never been known to have a lot of people ingame.

Then that was probably a larger server because on servers with 32 players or less, you usually run into maybe 6-10 players at most at a time on the other side. If the map is pretty straight forward with basically a straight line, then you will meet more, but not when you have a lot of possiblities to flank or move around and such.

16v16 is just not enough for infantry battles to be really intense because you know you will have up to 6-8 players on your team in vehicles, waiting for them, afk, or roming around. If you are a good SL(If they even have that) then you can get a squad going, but that is still probably just going to be 6v6most of the time.

Really I didn't know about the AI taking over how does that work?

When I see it, then I will believe it. There hasn't been any AI yet that hasn't just rushed and done stupid tactics. I don't expect this game to be too different either.

They have re-written most of the multiplayer side of the game it does support up to 64 players possibly more if it not hard coded to 64.

Also maps are not restricted to 1km by 1km you can make them bigger if you want to.
