Note to Admins: First off in no way is this supposed to be an arguementitive thread, if it turns into such I wish for it to be deleted immediately without thought.

Now to the point.. Alot of times the talk of technology on this forum turns into a my country is better then yours arguement. My question to you is why is that? You can wuss outa the conversation and say it's just fierce rivalry, but yet we are both allies, we share weapons and technology, yet we all get into petty arguements and state oh we built this or we built that, it's better then that blah blah blah blah blah. The point is that both sides have there great abilities in different areas. Now why do you believe there is such a fierce rivalry between the two great nations?

My answer to this would be with the rough history of such, and maybe the arrogance of some Americans, and the arrogance of some Brits. Personally I find myself in communications with many brits throughout my online days and I have tons of fun with them because were both civilized most of us have a sense of humor, and the ability to have logical conversations. I have no problems with Brits, only when they attempt to bash me because of where I live. You can be patriotic to a point, then it becomes facism.

Any opinions?

I get along with the Brits on VOIP and TS as well, but on the forums, it just seems like the Brits sometimes act like they are better by saying that we always try to take over something or bomb something because of our President. Lets face it, most of the world probably thinks we are all like President Bush, when we all have our own seperate views.

It also seems like they have some big conspircy about the US covering up the effectiveness of its weapons and that the Challenger 2, SA80, and SAS are so much better then their US counterparts, but it is media and propaganda that covers it up.

But I have to ask this. What is up with the "Royal" in everything the British do? Royal Marines, Royal Acadamy, Royal Navy, etc. It seems like you have to prove you are higher in power then everyone else by putting the Royal in front of everything.

One gripe I have is that people are saying that this mod's main concern is about introducing the Britsh military. I thought it was about realism which this mod really is lacking in right now. I know half the players are British and all, but seriously the British were not really needed right now and those resources could of been better spent somewhere else.

I don't care playing as the British in the Special Forces expansion so it is not really a problem of having your country in the game. And you are really only going to be playing as the British for 1/4 of the whole game anyway, so what was the rush to add them then in and neglect China and the MECs weapons which you play half the time? British Nationalism and all that I guess.

They are not even going to have all their weapons for the next patch, so can you really say all that time skinning another army was needed when the Chinese could already use reskinning and upgrades.

Anyways, I feel that the US and the UK are as equal in terms of our forces as 2 apples from an apple tree. War is fought with people, and the hell with anyone who thinks they are better than anyone else. The odds of dying are equal for everyone. Technology helps, but death is inevitable.

To sum it up...We are basicly equal.

Agreed. I am just as glad that we have the British on our side as anyone and I am sure they are glad they have the US incase anything were to happen in Europe.

I think you're misunderstanding the use of 'Royal'... it's not to say that they are any better, but that it is appointed under the monarchy, as in Royal Mail.

Now the royal family no longer have the power that they used to, but tradition is a strong thing.

Realisticly, I don't think Europeans etc. believe that all Americans are like Bush, that just defies common sense. I've been to America twice and there are great people there, as well as some idiots. I don't think that this proportion is different to anywhere else in the world, as each country has different types of people.

But mixnmojo, I noticed lots of discrimination on these boards, and that is not a lie. Honestly, I feel hostility between the people of UK, and the US. Maybe not as a 'whole' so to speak, but I find it all to common.

Perhaps some believe they are better than us...Okay, not a big deal, I can understand that people have their own opinions. It is just that when its all said, and done, the only person better than them, are the ones who have not struck back with their own opinions of such.

SAS + challenger 2 are much better than their counterparts.. Americans hate it when their not TEH BEST at something.

we use royal in stuff becasue we always have.. i dunno its this thing we have called history where things happen over a long period of time.

And concentrating on the british is a great idea it means we get it done and over with. The devs can make what the hell they please its their mod. if you havent noticed there will be around 16 different classes, doesnt sound like they are just making brit forces too me.

wow hold your horses guys the only reason that i have seen hostility between the two nations it because of the threads that have been set up that seem to encite hostility (such as the one gaz went round locking) i know that alot of the fan base is european and the difference in time zones means that we cannot often comunicate on forums but i get on very well with americans on this forum and i cant see the reason for hostility other than in threads where they have appear to be started for the sole purpose of;
1.causeing and argument.
2.members using the thread to start arguments.


so you see (i hope) that somtime threads degenerate into who is better threads and just start off "cock" fights and i worry that this thread could degenerate without carfull observation and measured discusion.
