How to get BF2 to run better?

Hey,

BF2 on my PC runs OK once in a game and set up, but it takes ages to load, and the first 30 secs - 1 min of a game are stuttery.

And besides, i'd like to up the graphics quality a bit - any ideas or tips?

3 Ghz P4
1Gb RAM
ATI Radeon X300
2Mbit DSL

Ram.

this has been discussed many times. The game NEEDS 2gigs of ram. when you have 2gigs in the loading times are fast and you don't lag on entry to game. you will also be able to turn the graphics settings up higher after you've got more ram in.

This is probably a dumb question.. but how can I find out exactly what type of RAM (speed etc.) my computer can take for an upgrade?

And do you know any good places to buy from?

Not a huge help but there is a small program you can download off the net I think which should be able to tell you what your ram is. Try searching on google for it and you might find it.

i have 1 gig and i seem to be fine

Post your motherboard specs. However I am going to say that unless you have a very new motherboard you will need PC3200. Ram sticks and make sure you get decent quality ones.
