Simulation Master Will Wright's 'Spore'
No modellers, skinners, coders, for this one. Amazing potential! First debuted at the 2005 Dice Summit in March... http://www.gamespy.com/articles/595/595975p1.html |

Amazing...
That sounds like the coolest thing that has ever happened to games since the first game console ever, i wonder if the game he demonstrated with will ever reach the shelfs anytime soon? It sounds like so much fun. But imagine the possibilities. Not only in the game he demonstrated, but what if this type of gameplay was ever employed into a military style game where each person or a group of people could command their own army/country, it would be great. I've always wanted to be able to customize things in the way he did it, to say the least, this could be a very intresting year in video games. Can't wait to see what happens.

That is insane, the scope of the game, and the fact that the program figures it out as it goes along...with nothing already in there....holy crap.

Exactly, you bring up a perfect point, the application of such a new way of doing things could really revolutionize games as we know them, I mean if they were to apply the base setup for your soldier, tank, jet, whatever and then give you the ability to customize its features (it wouldn't nessacarily be realistic) but it sure would make it interesting. I mean the way the program actually figures out how stuff would work if it was equipped a certain way...I find it absolutely amazing.

I can see it know, with no pre progreammed steps:
The game will know what should happen when a heat round hits a building. BAM large explosion, lots of smoke, hole in wall.... man that would be sweet. |
