Some quick computer questions

What other components would speed up a computer OTHER THAN RAM, CPU, and graphics card?

If I were to get, say, a 300Mhz increase in my CPU, would there be a BIG difference?

Hdd speed is a good one.

300Mhz increase making a big difference really depends on current specs....

Better/more efficient cooling and better/more efficient PSU also makes a difference. The biggest and cheapest performance increase however is RAM.

300 Mhz isn't very much, a good overclock could give you that much more Mhz. Really not worth spending the cash on for such a trivial bump. You might get one or two more FPS in BF2.

to get good gaming you need to increase all 3 core components for now.

i run the equivalent of a venice 3500+ (you can get them for £65 nowadays) plus 4x512meg pc3200 ram (makes so much difference over 2x512meg pc3200) and i tried the game with a 6600gt and it wouldn't play properly, now have equivalent x850xtpe and it is okay.

with a decent CPU and cooling, and RAM that could hack it, you could OC that CPU to around the 2.9 - 3.1 GHZ mark.
