Live-Blogging the Intel-McAfee Announcement - Digits - WSJ

So the question is, when do we expect Symantec and AMD to partner up in the same way?

This is pretty big, almost certainly it will be a pretty powerful acquisition for Intel. That's assuming their management doesn't royally screw the pooch, which can happen on big mergers between well established companies

McAfee stock is up $17 per share so far today.. Some one is making some good money.

Outcomes

1. When buying an Intel product, we buy the MC Afee security as well.
2. The Mc Afee brand is completely dissolved and Intel is its own security brand with its products. Mc Afee developers are integrated into Intel and they would theoretically get a lot more moo-la.
3. Either happens, and every single action that we take on our computer is screened through a security check- "Mine Sweeper is about to run. Do you trust this program?" - Always trust-
