Default Fake Marine Talks his way into the army as an NCO

Impressive. In the end it was the medals he had on that brought him down. Had he not gone for the glory and just worn a couple of basic medals he would have never been caught.

First reaction; Not cool - Wearing a uniform and medals that you simply didn't earn is beyond lame and disrespectful.
Secondly; Background checks anyone? I bet someone is gonna have a less than pleasant time at work now..

Everyone who had to process that man should be fired. At.

Surely this should have been spotted as soon as someone tried to update his service record? The US military uses service numbers doesn't it? If the few weeks of training he had officially enlisted him, his number would show that was all he had done, and if he had no number, how did he ever get in in the first place?

Yeah it's not the fact that he's wearing the uniform that bothers me the most, it's that he's wearing all of those awards that he didn't earn that others DO have to earn.

Seriously, this sounds very weird, almost as if something is missing :

Lt. Col. Maria Quon, spokeswoman for the Army's Human Resources Command, said her database contains an entry showing Johnston joined the military in 2002, but there are no documents to support the 2002 date. She described the lack of documentation as unusual and said it likely means the date was entered this year.

Ehhh...I think it's mostly the fact that someone who didn't go through any real training was in a position where he could do some real damage. The awards are of secondary importance imo.
