Who thinks the world is messed up beyond fixing

Who thinks that the world is so messed up we shouldn't try to fix it and should just try to maintain the status quo. Also this is going to be a thread to discuss the Middle East, Aisa and any other issues that crop up. Also please keep the flaming to a minimium.

Eh, the world? Every single topic there is? Pretty general poll there. So, were taking millions of topics and combining them and I guess, determining of how good or "messed up" each is and get the average of all of them to answer yes or no?

Earth is just fine tbh. It could be ravaged by fire, flood, 'nuculear' war, disease, what have you. Everything living could be wiped out. But the Earth...well...the Earth would still be here wouldn't it?

As for my views on the following:

Middle East; yes it seems to be escalating, 'our generation' 1980+ is new to this whole OMFG the Middle East is in chaos and the Israelis and Palestinians and whoever else are going to war with eachother...this for example has been happening for thousands of years. Not necessarily with those specific factions but, you can think back, to Alexander the Great, the Persians, the Crusades, Ottoman Empire, WW2, etc

These sorts of conflicts are nothing new really, yet each time they happen it is a big thing, because one would think after all this time, people would learn from history...but no.

To be perfectly honest after watching CNN this evening and hearing Wolf Blitzer's report on what he think might happen, Syria and Iran are behind these kidnappings via these groups like Hamas and Hezbollah, and they are trying to test Israel and the United States to see how much they will take. Mainly by the statement which Wolf said in what the Iranian President stated as if Israel were to attack Syria, it would be the equivelant of them declaring war on the entire Middle East. Ye what I find comically contradicting is that he blames the U.S. and other nations of being war mongers when 'he', the EU and other nations are trying to keep things calm and collected.

North Korea:
Its a real mess that is, China and Russia have vested intrests in NK, my guess is becuase they were all at one point or still are Communist. Since Russia influenced Chinese ideology and then that went on to affect Korea. I find it highly unlikely that we will see much in the way of effective cooperation from the two biggest power houses over there.

CNN Presents "Inside the Secret State" is a really harsh and sobering look at what NK is really like inside. They tell their people its paradise, and that the outside world is so much worse. When, for example if a train carrying fertilizer from either Chinaor South Korea loses some of its cargo, tons of little kids and adults go flocking around the tracks to pick up what they can to sustain something... Energy and food shipments from outside nationss are really what is keeping the North Koreans alive, so IMHO, placing sanctions on NK would be a mistake, the people there would suffer even more than they already are, while of course Kim Jong is happily chillin in his Presidential palace and what have you, sipping on whatever exotic liquer he so chooses.

I have some other thoughts on this topic as well but I'll leave it at that (no clean cut resolution to how one would fix this situation though where a majority of nations comes out ahead).

Global Warming, anyone?

Ok so long story short, I believe its happening, and for one we can't or at least won't do anything to stop it in time, either because of 'red-tape' or because of our inability to do something about something unless its already too late.

As I read recently in an article, an analyst who is studying computer models and data from these research studies etc, he makes the point that even if we were to stop using all cars and other fossil fueled machines right now, the planet would still be unnartually warming. Seeing that temperatures are rising because of harmful emissions being released into our atmosphere similar to the glass of a greenhouse. Basically the window slats of a greenhouse that let the hot air out are closed (pollution emissions...particles.... are letting sunlight in as usual but keeping the heat trapped inside 'the greenhouse'.

Now I also heard a counter theory on Global warming, if it is occuring as the majority of scientists say, the jet stream will at some point stall out, causing the warm air over the atlantic to no longer reach Europe, putting the continent into a chill (mini ice age). Another point is that if things are warming up, that means that plant life will grow more rapidly and that means (via the way plants make food etc) that there will eventually be more moisture in the air, which in turn would mean more clouds. Which would lead up to cloud cover, preventing sunlight from reaching the planets surface, inturn then cooling it. However my fear with this theory is that if 1. it either heats up too fast, then plants won't stand a chance against the heat and we're screwed. or 2. if very little light is getting to the surface and the planet cools too fast then everything freezes and dies, and then we're also screwed...

My guess... Earth as we know it.... is still a TBW WIP. (To Be Witnessed Work In Progress). Shut up sit down and hold on for dear life. And now being dilirious and requireing sleep, I end my pointless rant.

There are still so many unknowns.

I wish I could come up with a long, well-thoughtout post on how I feel about the issues of the world, but I can't, so I'll say what I got .

I think too many Americans are too materialistic to care about the "outside world".What with all their celebrities, multi-billion dollar pairs ofunderwear (yes, it's real) , and mindless gambling, I think their minds are already pushed to the limit.
Or maybe, It's just too much of an incovienence to (some) people to actually hunker down, and get to know these issues becuse it only takes one push of the button to send OUR planet to it's demise. I say our becuase I think some people get the feeling that the only one's that should be concerned are the environmentalists or the professors-of-somebody's-college.

Either way, I'm pretty sure God didn't intend for the world to end like this.
