On topic it's intreasting that Bush actually comes out and says russians have too much freedom.

I am not sure if Bush meant it like that as I think the title may be misleading. I think he is concerned about Russian people getting LESS freedom because it sounds strange that he would be concerned when people starting to get more freedom?

That guy constantly baffles me, are none of his PR guys paying attention? Publicly reffering to a former super power as "too free" is just plain mental and says more about the state of things over in the US than it does about Russia.

Cheney in May accused Putin of backsliding from democracy and bullying Russia's neighbors on energy.

In an interview aired Wednesday on NBC's "Today Show," the Russian leader expressed irritation at Vice President Dick Cheney's charge, made in May during a speech in Lithuania, that Russia was backsliding when it comes to democracy, and "improperly" restricting the rights of its people.

"I think your vice president's expression there is like his bad shot on his hunting trip," Putin told NBC, alluding to Cheney's accidental shooting of his friend, Harry Whittington, during a hunting trip in February.

"It was pretty clever," said Bush, who is due to meet Putin Saturday. "It was quite humorous, not to diss my friend the vice president."

I dont think Mr. Putin has much to say considering he jails political opposers and gives little freedom to the press.
