Anyone on UK AOL and got upgraded yet?
I have a UK 2meg connection and a thompson speedtouch 576 router. I recently got a series of emails, saying I was about to get the free upgrade upto 8meg and then a final one saying I had been upgraded, but there is nothing different about my line at all! Even if my line3 was crap, I would still expect a few kbs improvement over what I usually get.
has anyone else been upgraded and noticed a difference? is the capping between 1700 and 2100hrs happening for everyone? (down to 75-80kbs and line choking up frequently) is the capping I am getting and the lack of any speed increase visible to me a slap on the wrist from them for excessive bandwidth usage? (at least 100gigs a month) |

You have already answered your question, AOL.
There crap, there's not much else you can say about them, they will say whatever they need to say to keep you happy for another month. |

i get a near on perfect service with my router (installing their WAOL software is the biggest downfall of their service) I have unlimited bandwidth although a few people have commented recently on capping (have to aska non-heavy user to blast their line several times within those hours to check if i am being targeted by packet shaping)

You could try phoning them up and threatening to leave. I know im supposed to be upgraded to 8meg but they are only automatically upgrading new customers, existing customers have to threaten to leave before they will upgrade us. Stupid if you ask me

I've had a pretty good service with AOL so far. They managed to upgrade my connection a while back, but I haven't heard anything about getting 8Mbit/s. What package are you on? I'm on AOL Gold I think, and I'm getting 2Mbit/s at the moment.
