Google - evil empire or the way to go?

YouTube Video

Do you avoid google, love it and just don't care. Are you concerned about information they hold?

I dont mind. I mean, as long as they make good stuff like they keep on doing, who cares that they own everything.

I love the direction they are going in with everything on one account and device! Next step! Space traveling!

I would say they are somewhere in the middle.

I don't worry about it much, but we have to think about how much and what information we do give them. But that goes for all internet services.

Google is all about the free flow of information, I believe their aims of opensource and ease of access to information are great aims, and other corporations could do well to learn from them or partner with them e.g. Microsoft should have stopped fighting people like google and just admitted that Firefox and google chrome were better browsers and offered both on windows as standard.

Between microsoft and google, I'd say microsoft is more 'evil' - though microsoft's arms don't go as far as google's; and microsoft's attempts at monopolisation got worse after Gates left, I think Bill was a top fellow who know his field and is the person on the earth to do the most about immunisation and disease control on the planet. So each group has its bad and good sides.

I think the phrase about google that needs to be heard is - The road to hell is paved with good intentions: i.e. they need oversight.

Google are like this giant internet demon that started as a f'ing search engine that actually worked and are now in possession of nine tenths of the net, and they're building an OS that will basically hold all it's data online and no-one will care because it'll f'ing work.

Until they decide it's time for the chromium revolution and humanity will be uploaded into the Cloud. Those who opt out of upload will be deleted, or at least forced to use symbian-based phones for the rest of their lives or something.

Joking aside, I don't especially care so long as they keep making shiny new things that actually work as you want them to
