Yeah, I would be pissing my pants if I had to go up in that thing. I should look in the morning to see if they inspected the thing at least ONCE. You have to imagine that fixing one problem, might lead to another. No matter how small the detail they miss, it could lead to devistating results.

Yep... And the scariest thing is that this fault is the same thing that killed the Columbia. Cracked insulation material that broke off and damaged the heat shield.

I think fate looks pretty grim for the crew ATM... The time constraints are just to much to keep it safe.

If they just listen to the Engineers and Techs this time everything should go fine, that was the main reasons for the previous crashes of NASA flights the guys upstairs were more interested money and publicity and it cost them.

As for the piece of insulationfoam that broke off, it's about 2,5" long by 1" high and they examined the area and came to the conclusion that it's still within safety parameters to go.
