SSPCA

My cat ran away last nigh at about 11pm, it was a really old cat 15+. last saturday it had a day were it had a sesiure every 2 hours. We took it to the vet on sunday, the vet says because of his ear(Which it scrached alot) had put pressure on the brain causing to to become epeleptic. The vet gave us tablets for the epelepsy and cream for the ear. Since then the cats not had any fits an was due in on monday for a checkup.

SO last night at about 11pm it disapeared, we called on it to about 1am. Today, My parents asked a neigbour and they said they found the cat under their trampoline and had called the SSPCA at about 1:30pm. The time when they asked was about 4:00pm. We called the SSPCA they said they would get the inspector to call us back.

He called back saying he had put the cat down. 2 and a 1/2 fucking hours they have a cat and they put it down!? They dont even wait to see if anybody calls looking for it. His excuse was it was in a car crash because of its ear, and that it was suffering because it had a fit in the back of his van.

The vet last week said it was in great health for its age. and it had been living with that ear for 3 years. This cat was not the cat thay would ever attack anything. It was the sort of cat you could do anything to and it would never turn on you, not even for fun. Acording to the guy it had a fit in the back of his van and thats why it was put down. IT WAS FUCKING EPELEPTIC! IT WOULD HAVE BEEN TERIFIED IN THE BACK OF A VAN, No not even in a cat basket, just in the back of a van. They guy wasnt even a vet and he put my cat down . its just not right. 2 and a half fucking hours they had it and they fucking kileld it.

No words for that kind of action, If anybody did that to my pet, I would for certain do something drastic.

Can't you report them? to a Higher authority, that they have abused their power.

Best luck,

Im am so sorry to hear that, I know how much a cat or anything can mean to you over the years. I was extremley sad when my cat died. It had lung cancer, and I think it was my fault because I used to smoke around it, and I have felt so guily ever since.

Well for me I cant feel guilty, we done nothing wrong. Its the fact that a guy who is not a qualified vet can take a decision to put down an epeleptic cat because it had a fit in the back of his van.

I mean does that mean if I get a mentaly disabled person in my car/house I can kill him because hes "suffering". It may be a harsh way to compare a human to an animal but its the way I see it. if A guy working for an agency working for the protection of animals against cruelty and is not a qualified vet, how can they make decisions that are importantto that animal?

Oh im a Voulnteer first aider for a marathon run, oh no a compeditor triped and hurt his ankle. Oh hes suffering, get me the gas or a frying pan, we are going to have to put him down. Its my decision even though im not a qualified doctor, but this man is suffering and we must end that suffering. look at him scream in pain.

IF the cat had died on natural causes/old age, it would be so hard. its the fact that somone else ender its life, somone else who had the power to say wether he lived or died and they chose to kill him instead of letting him live. So even if the cat was in pain for a few hours, now we dont even get a chance to say bye to it. and I dont know what will happen to our other cat. We cant exactly go, your brother is dead, you wont see him again. so It may be a few days mabey even a week before the other cat notices somethings changed.

I don't want to type it but my words are exactly what Dandy said, but of course without the reporting to a higher authority.
