I'd translate "muzzle brake" as "frein de bouche" but "cache-flamme" is fine too.

unfortunately it is handwritten, but I think it's fine, I'm studying in a french school 4 years now and my marks are pretty good, I just needed the vocabulary here

Receiver is "action"(L'action de l'arme).
Safety would me "cran de Sûreté"
Trigger would be "détente" and not "gachette"(wrong term)
Bullet is "Balle" but the proper term would be cartridge(cartouche).

That doesn't match with masterceo's pic, you would call this part of the gun "action" ? It doesn't mean anything !

why is "gachette" wrong? Hauteclocque provided a good example of it being used in the right context ("trigger happy") and various dictionaries translate it as trigger

EDIT: i'm currently reading a book for my french class, it's about women serving in the IDF, and in that book they refer to trigger as détente, so right now i'm confused, could anyone explain what's the difference?
