Star Wars Combine - Free Online Role-Playing Simulation Game.

Yeah yeah its a Star Wars game, but it has a good community and your really one need to go on once a week minimum.

[R-CON]Outlawz : what's next: remove this and that guy's rifle because he shot you?
At the end we'd end up with Project Hello Kitty where everyone hugs each other and the only way to die is getting beaten to death with fluffy balls.

You can try eRepublik, a political sim based on social interactions. Players run their countries, fight between themselves, create companies, write newspapers etc.
Though it became more complex than regular web-based games, it might suck you in.

There's of course a referre system, which rewards bringing new players to the game - profit! If you want to register hold on a sec and gimme ur email, will help you with all the stuff and send invitation link.

Well right now I've got two nations on NationStates, 3 characters on Urban Dead, and a village on Travian which seems pretty cool.

Think I'll stick with those for now but by all means keep suggesting =P
