Hmm..that movie has to be Talvisota (The Winter War). Although there are some winter scenes in Tuntemanton Sotilas (The Unknown Soldier) since the Continuation War lasted for three years and some parts of the movie do take place in winter.

Oh! I remembered two more films. They are called Etulinjan edessä or Främsta linjen (Behind Lines or something like that) and Tali-Ihantala 1944 (The Battle of Tali-Ihantala 1944).

Liberation series instead. 6 full length films(one of 2 parts if i remember properly). talking about enemy at the gates, its bullshit, not a film, there are a lot of strange films, but this one beats even rambo by degree of stupidity. though there is one nice scene where nazi sniper treats the boy the way he deserved.

also i'd add propagandistic one Fall of Berlin... where Stalin gives exreichs capital a visit in a plane... other one Battle of Stalingrad has pieces of real german armour in it i think. both are 1949.

Never saw the whole thing, but "Beaufort" is one of those morbidly depressing, must-see war films....

Well it was loosely based on it though the whole film is totally different, It's story is not the same and it didn't end up getting bombed by the RAF so I think that it's not really changing history it's fictional.

The British side, Capturing U110 or U571 in this movie, is only a part of the beginning after that it's pretty much about escaping Germans..

God, I hate most war-movies. Most of them are, more or less, propaganda. One-sided, stupid and full of lies and pathetic emotional crap.

I like the Finnish war movies I've seen (Talvisota and Tali-Ihantala 1944). I wouldn't say that anyone of them really take a stadn - they just tell about things as they really were. That is something I really appreciate.

Apocalypse Now, I used to hate. I used to look at it as a typical "anti-war" movie about how wrong the war in Vietnam was. But then I realized that the film doesn't really take a stand. It never really says that the motives behind the American presence in Vietnam were wrong, just that they handled the situation in the wrong way! This I can agree with, and Kurtz have some great lines about the brutal reality of CI-warfare (that he needs cold-blooded men that can kill without passion and judgement to get the job done) that make alot of sense.

All the SPR-crap I hate. Most WW2-movies feature to much waving flags, tears, etc... So emotional, so pathetic! I just... God, I can't stand that kind of crap! Makes me wanna puke
The Finnish WW2-films are exceptions... So are some of the stuff the Japanese (Nobi, or whatever it was called), Soviets (Idi i Smotri, in particular) and Germans (Stalingrad and Der Untergang!) did. Sadly enough, I can't remember any American WW2-movie that really got me hooked. Guess you make more interesting movies when you lose the war than if you win it.
