Also +1 on Taken, is another you don't expect, has a certain Independent feel actually.

Also, for a decent car chase and action, Ronin and or all of the Bourne films.

You can get TV series through LoveFilm as well can't you? That would give you more options

If you can stand the 2 and a half run time, Watchmen has one of the best plots of any film I saw last year. Plus I love how Zack Snyder does all his fight scenes... (Speed up in between hits and then slo-mo so you can see the gore). Watch it in Blu ray if you can. Brilliant.

Role Models if you want some comedy. It's almost up there with Superbad and Knocked up imo.

Horror, i'd say watch The Children. I don't trust anyone under the age of 8 now...

Oh and some more thrillers 'cause no one else has mentioned them: Traitor and Body of Lies.
