I remember in middle school me and my friends had airsoft guns. We went into the forest behind our neighborhood and were walking around shooting at each other with all sorts of things. I had an M4 and Sniper rifle ffs, among my friends' were an SA-80, MP-5, M16, and Shotgun. Yeah... one time a guy asked us about them and was actualy kinda interested when we told him they shot plastic BBs.

Lol. I'm 15 and have my own winchester 12 guage shotgun (for hunting, of course). I can be sitting out on my front porch cleaning it and no one would gave a care. Its funny that the only shooting in our town occured in a post office (where weapons aren't allowed).

I think the police acted in the right way completely. Anybody hear of Andrew Murray?

He's a tennis player whose school was entered by one man who killed 16 children and 1 teacher, these kids were about 6. What would have happened if this guy (in the above article) had a real SMG with 30 rounds and fully automatic firing?
He could have gone to a shopping center or anywhere really, pointed in a general direction and a massacre would have occured.

BTW, Eden, would you take time to check their backgrounds if you had reports of a teenager with what looks like an SMG wondering around the house?

I'm 16, me and my mates have gone shot a few in the woods, an MP5, M16 and Berreta 92FS, wanna know why we didn't get done?
We had orange tips on the end and used bags where the public could see what they were.

Sorry if it sounds like a rant but people thinking the police are trying to control us is simply stupid, sure they might be a bit too strict on certain things, but as far as weapons are concerned, you can't be strict enough!

Oh pancakes..

There's a sport, called airsoft, which is mostly about realism and tactical gameplay. In the UK, this is actually legal, as the replicas are classed as toys. However, because of arsetit situations like the one the article was reporting on, a new bill is passing through the house of commons about banning the sale and importation of "replica imitation firearms (RIFs)", which is what the sport of airsoft actually uses.

They're replica firearms, and most airsofters actually treat the things as real weapons, ie: not having the things loaded, never brandishing them in public, only using them at an airsoft skirmish site and carrying them around in gunbags.

These aren't cheap things either, which most of you I expect believe "BB guns" to be. Some can cost upwards of £3k - altough the average price for an AEG (automatic electric gun) is about £200. It's a fun sport, and I partake in it. Sadly, most people don't understand that these things aren't the £2 springer jobbies you find in market stalls, which most airsofters hate and wish to see banned - these are expensive, and very realistic (1:1 scale replication) replicas. Most morons don't actually have the airsoft replicas, as they are too expensive, instead, a nice £20 crappy thing to wave around and be shot with will suit them nicely.

I play airsoft, as I'm unable to join the military, which was my dream. Seriously, I've wanted to since I was 6 or something, and cried when I had to accept that I couldn't join recently because I am disabled. I can barely manage a day running around pretending to be a soldier. This is the way I get my exercise, and if this sport gets banned, I most likely won't get much exercise.

For more information about airsoft, check out www.arniesairsoft.co.uk which is the UK's most popular airsoft community.

Amen Brother. Fortunealty for us "pre ban" types our airsoft guns wont be taken away, but that small conselation becuase the sport will slowly die.

but at least there's a delay on ATM, it wont go back to the commons before the summer recess, which hopefully will the the Association of British Airsoft (ABA) time to work its magic.

The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

Whats going on in the world today? I haven't heard of any bombings, or terrorists attacks, etc. lately The one thing I hate is the media deliberately pushes the whole terrorist thing to get people scared.

Now by no means should the police have gone in with no protection but some simple research on the people living in that house and a knock on the door before they break it down would have had things sorted out a lot more quickly and without the destruction of property and the permanent scar that the child now has to carry for the rest of his life.
No one said anything about terrorists. It's the simple fact that their is crime in our cities. Anywhere and everywhere. If someone is waving a gun in your face, are you going to sit on your computer or call someone and see if they are just playing around? Or are they serious? Please.

The police acted on information they had at the time. That's all that counts. Because most of the time, that's all you have. You can't seriously expect them to get background information in time, before that "suspect" decides to go on a shooting spree. Sit in the cops shoes and think about it for a second.

The kid was brandishing a realistic weapon, in front of an open window. He was taken down, as well as his parents. Maybe the parents should be watching their kids more carefully? People wanna put the blame on where it doesn't belong nowadays. It's sad really.

I play paintball, I never could get into AirSoft maybe because there are to many American AirSofters that wont admit to getting hit.

I dont play your normal paintball, I play Scenario Paintball. I refer to it as wanna-be army. You go out onto a 100-200 acre field with about 500-800 people and do a scenario. The last one our team played on was based on the movie StormShip troopers. It was fun, we were on the Alien team. They gave the Aliens red paint and the Humans green paint. So when the balls busted on the player, the aliens would bleed green and the humans would bleed red. It was intense.

There are two length of games, the 12 hours and the 26 hours. Stormship Troops was just a 12 hour. At the 26 hour games alot of the team has night vision and we go and raid the enemy base and take out squads. Its quite fun.

I belly crawled for 2 hours at night... going very slowly. I only covered about a football feilds length because I was crawling right through the enemy base. I even snuck up on a guy and jumped up yelling "snake snake" after being freaked out because I thought he acually saw one I relized he was talking about me. So thats when I made my move. I ran outa the woods yelling "snake snake!" and everyone just laughed at me not knowing I was about to kill there general. Good times good times.

If you want information of Scenario Paintball and your in the Texas area email me at blacklistrocker@gmail.com its a stinkin' awesome experiance.
