you got your money's worth with Crysis 1, but it didn't have the longevity imo, partly because of the way the graphics were done (fantastic at close range, but vegitation draw distance etc was still crap)

it was a solid game though, and I look forward to the sequal.

Farcry 1 > Crysis

In crysis you get funneled once you start getting into the island, you may not notice it but next time you play watch for how many tunnels or ravines you go though.

Also, has anyone tried the Mechwarrior living legends mod? Its pretty damn good, especially for a beta.

Got pretty tired of having to take around 15 rounds to the chest just to kill 1 human AI. Multiplayer wasn't fantastic also I hope they done some modifications to it.

It won't, CryEngine 3 is designed to run more efficiently than CryEngine 2 while still being pretty (which is why Crysis 2 is to be released on consoles). It may (or may not) actually be the engine that Free Radical were working on for Time Splitters 4 as it only appeared after they were purchased by Crytek (and are now Crytek UK GMBH).

I liked Crysis, for me it was just the right balance of linearity and freedom that allowed for a strong experience but still gave you a choice in how to get to where you had to go. Very much like Mass Effect in that way, how you do something is open to question but you will have to do it. Admittedly it did have points where it was much more streamlined but this was to improve the cinematic nature of the event which, in my opinion, was needed that those points in the plot. Even at some of those points you have more freedom that it first appears, such as in Phase Line Alpha (which was my favorite part of the game. More large scale set piece battles with multiple options for the player in Crysis 2 please!)

Now, what Crytek really need to do is get over the hubris of all thier games - switching half way though from entertaining fights with human enemies to aliens/mutants/etc. It wrecked FarCry and it wrecked Crysis, though Crysis handled it better than fighting a bunch of one hit kill monkies.

The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

I don't see how the crysis story could have played out well in a free roaming game.

I thought it was fun but you really have to get the AI mods.

Crysis graphics were the sex, the story was unique but not THAT interesting

I heard somewhere the poly count on some of the alien weapons was around 60,000 O.O
