Default Suggest a head set

So I was using the same Platronics (I think) headset for about 2.5 years before someone finally broke them. Haven't played PR in about 2 months or so because of this. I'd like you guys to suggest me some head sets. Keep in mind I have an on-board soundcard (which is pretty good for my purposes).

2 restrictions:
* Never had much luck with USB headsets, so I prefer the standard 3.5mm jacks
* I'd really prefer to spend less than 50USD.

M.

Go to Best Buy and get the Plantronics stuff they have there. Cost me about $40 and they're nice and reliable.

Plantronics are nice and well priced, but creative do make higher quality products imo

if you don't mind the extra simoleons, get a creative fatality headset.

I've had a Sennheiser 166(?) that I've been abusing for over three years.. I don't use the USB-Soundcard, instead plug it into my X-Fi Soundcard. It's served me well, with exposed wires and all.

The Koss SB-45 I guess could suit you. Can't really compare it to anything else though since it's pretty much the only "proper" pair of headset I've had. Well, they're comfortable at least.

i bought a plantronics set from bestbuy a year ago, and slowly but surely it's disintegrating, there's some rattling noise in one of the earcups when i tilt my head, overall ergonomic design probably isn't the greatest, but thats probably because of my humongous head

The sound is A-OK, no complaints in that department, the mic is also very clear

But, i'm eager to know how i will judge this headset (plantronics A650)

when i'm getting a new pair of cans, these
obviously they're on a different price level, but i already own the sennheiser pxc 350 for the plane, and i absolutely adore them

I would agree that Plantronics is one of the top companies for headsets. I've been using their gaming headsets since the late 80's, and their latest model that I recommend is the GameCom 367 closed-ear. MSRP is about $45, so you can probably find them in stores or online for around $35-40. These use standard audio jack, so no worries if you dislike USB.

Personally, I'm liking USB headsets because they are faster to plug in. The problem is that you need to plug them in BEFORE starting your software or else they won't be recognized. So one good aspect and one negative.

And regarding Plantronics further level of quality, they are the brand of headset I use for cellular bluetooth. They are also so good that NASA and the FAA use this brand. You remember Neil Armstrong's "one small step" comments? That was through a Plantronics headset.
