I was exactly the same. I used to love Tool in high school, but in the last 5 years or so they've gotten massively popular. I got so sick of people recomending Tool to me when I already listened to it, or people raving about what ever their latest album was without listening to any of the older stuff. So I stopped listening because I got sick of all the hipster fans.

But I started listening again a few years ago and I'm glad I did. It's great music, though I can't stand APC or Puscifer.

I really enjoy their more obscure artsy songs now days

But if you like tool, there's plenty of post-rock/post-hardcore/doom bands around that have the same kind of vibe

At first I couldn't possibly see myself liking a band named "Tool" but I was impressed. Will definitely be expanding and diversifying my music list with them.

I've been listeneing to TOOL all the time last year. Quite addictive.
If you like TOOL I can really recommend ISIS. Unfortunately they're not that well known. Just youtube them. Some pretty nice songs^^
