Youtube and Making Money From Videos

When I signed into Youtube a couple of days ago, it gave me a message that I can make money off my Marine Corps Commercial posted on my youtube. A friend of mine said it was legit and was getting paid in a similar way too. Anyone else have any experience with this? If it's legit I will do it, but I need some feedback/advice first.

It's legit. Youtube has a 'Partners' program and then they pay you for making videos. From there you can be a stockholder in Google.

Don't know how it works, in great detail, but many people are in the program.

Its legit as long as you make it yourself etc.

yeah its legit, ALL content (i mean ALL) on your profile has to be your own tho. including background pics ect.

I didn't make that vid though (The Marine Corps did), so am I still eligible?

For that video you aren't. BTW I think you should mark the video with a disclaimer that you did not make it.

Well, no one else has it posted so I am the original poster, but Youtube told me that I was eligible for it on the front page when I logged it. So I figured they didn't mind lol.
