Ft. Hood - News today

Let me begin this by saying: Yes I know there is already a topic but my side is limited because I do not have fifty posts. This topic is for those of use who live in/near Ft. Hood and/or were apart of this.


My name is Jacob Krustchinsky and I am a 15 year old sophomore at Harker Heights High school. My father is a captain in the military here in Killeen, and works a an EMPA at Darnell Army Medical Center on base. At 1:30 today I was packing my book-bag for the end of classes due to the early release schedule today for teacher meetings. Also at this time a soldier only a few minutes drive from where I was currently at, was pumping round after round into soldiers at the Soldier Readiness center near the movie theater on base. For those of you un-familiar with Ft. Hood, it is the largest installation in the world and has over 100,000 people on base at any one time ( give or take for the cav being deployed ). The preliminary report sates that 12 were killed and 31 were injured ( this according to the III corps commanders press release just moments ago ). My father thankfully is ok, he is seeing the many wounded in his ER at this time. Most were triaged on the scene after the gunmen was shot and killed ( confirmed ), and were sent either to Darnell, Scott and White in Temple or the local Metrolplex in Killeen. Pray for the familys of the injured and killed and hope its the end..

The name of the gunmen was just released ( Malik hassan ) if i do recall. He was an active duty major here on Ft. Hood. A recent convert to islam, the motivation is un-clear but is believed to be that of extremism.

^ now is not the time to take numbers of that nature into question. Please also consider the complete medical staff which are mostly contractors, most of the security are contractors, and also a large part of the daily life staff ( dining facility, shops etc.). So the numbers abit high, but again...not the time to question a detail that small among a tragedy. Really upsets me that thats the first post in response to this.


Maybe a comment directed towards the victims would be nice.
