A donkeys brass balls - Game incompatibilities

After a title like that, what do you expect?

I haven't got a clue! But I'll still try and share my experience with you lot.

Earlier today while I was patiently waiting for my latest batch of por... ridge... ahem.. Anyway, I decided it would be fun to try out an old classic!

I scanned my scared shrine of Oldies and finally decided to install Project I.G.I.
Damn those old games can take a loong time to install and that's ONE CD only...

After install it was time to boot it up. My expectations were meagre but enthusiastically so right up untill the main menu came up.
All the text were square blocks and the mouse pointer were the size of Manhattan!
I thought; "hmm" and "odd" together with a few other expletives that I better leave outside of this forum.

FireBird to the resque! Through the magnificent interface of Google and few hours of annoying AND futile searching for a patch that might help, I finally stumbled upon a little tidbit that said "if you are using ANY ATI RADEON card you are basically fu... SOL".

AAArrgghhhh!
Uninstall! Bang!

Ok, I'll try Sin instead!
Not only does it work on my XP machine with an ATI Radeon x600 card I had NO problems finding a patch for it on the net! Yahoo!
Now this game is basically about 3 years OLDER than Project I.G.I that DIDN'T work.
Sin is built, for those who don't know, the Quake II engine by ID software where as I.G.I is a rewrecked flightsimulator of unknown origin...
To top it all of it's a Norwegian game!!

At least I get to play a souped up version of QII with only mildly annoying graphics and sound.
I feel so special...

Now where is that puking smiley???

Well, I found this link to a demo version of Sin : http://downloads.gamezone.com/demosfiles/t1314.htm

And you can pick your DL link of choice for a demo of Project I.G.I here : http://www.gamershell.com/download_4774.shtml

Mind you, these are old games and IGI might not work at all.
Unless you have an older machine with Win98 on it!

Will try that for IGI.
Like I said Sin works like a charm even though it's older than IGI...
