The whole point of the game is to work togheter with the rest of the team. Like me and Nick, our standard tactic is to have me go armour and call out a couple of heavy or medium tanks and Nick goes support and uses a couple of heavy AA and a repair tank or two. I take down all or most of the armour and infantry threats and let him deal with the enemy air.

@Demonic: When playing infantry use the forests as cover and make sure you use the grenade ability when you are fighting a enemy infantry squad.

And don't focus on trying to build a army, just send in a couple of units right away, you don't need more then 2-3 tanks to change the battle. You will get more unit over time and it doesn't take long to get enough points to call in a couple of tanks or inf squads.

The game is never over just because someone calls in a nuke. Sure it gives the enemy time to move in a take some positions but its never impossible to take them back with some well placed arty strikes and a coordinated attack with your teammates. Also, when an enemy is firing a nuke you will hear a warning and its usually very easy to figure out were its going to hit, so when you hear that and if you got a lot of units close to a lot of friendly units you should start moving.

And if you are getting killed by airstrikes and arty a lot you are staying still for to long, the only time you should stay still on the same spot is if you are caping a point, other then that make sure you move your units from time to time.

And no the game is not realistic and its not trying to be, it got a rock, paper, scissor kind of gameplay. A tank will take out a AA gun and a attack heli will take out a tank but the heli will be shot down by the attack heli. But a good air player will still be able to take down the AA etc.

I think the game is awesome, the first time you play it you will go "WTF?! What is going on here?" There will be explosions and troops everywhere and it will all look like a cluster fuck. But when you learn to play it you will start to see what kind of units you have to use in certain situations and you will learn to adapt to what's happening on the map.

Get it hunter, get it!

The game is fantastic and well balanced (though largley mirror balanced), gameplay is fast and fluid. First and most important rule - mobility is life. Don't stay still, at all. The amount of times I've been able to ruin someone's day with an anti tank strike because they parked thier units in a firing line and started pounding away at a heavy tank is rediculous. The only time your units should be stationary (unless playing infantry, when ambushes are key, but remember to relocate before your boys are napalmed/gassed/killed with a laser guided bomb [which blows up the building they're in]) is when you're securing points or repairing. In addition to avoiding those pesky air & artillery strikes, your units do more damage when firing at the rear of enemy vehicles, so you should always be manuvering for position.

Another cunning tactic is to hide some hard hitting, long range units (such as heavy tanks, the guns of which can fire much further than thier natural view distance) behind a small forest (which the tank can shoot through, but cannot be seen from the other side and have lighter units, which typically have better view distances, on the other side of the trees finding targets for them. The enemy wont detect the valuable heavy tanks until they've fired and he's followed the line of shot back to the trees (if he even bothers). I've been able to go whole games without having my sniper tanks taken out. Watch out for enemy scout helicopters and recon TAs, as these can ruin your day.

Oh, if you're playing support, don't just buy a bunch of heavy artillery, it makes you look like a noob (unless you really know how to use it )

The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

I'm going to have to agree with demonic here, I find it impossible to enjoy the multiplayer, there is no sense of progression and a great deal of obvious failure when all your units get gassed to hell. Infantry do indeed suck bad and there are far too many support strikes for any semblance of tactical movement to occur.

I quite liked the singleplayer but the multi just sucks hard for me.

When i used to play this online i went infantry alot people didnt expect it because most thought infantry to be redundant and left it alone.
Often i would be the only infantry player but most of the time this payed off as people didnt expect it. I have to say i loved calling in airborne teams down and using them to call in arty on unsuspecting enemy artilery units =P.

I would say infantry is alot harder to use effectively than the likes of armour and air.

Often my friend and I work as a team. Him Infantry (being better with foot soldiers) and I armour (being better with armour plus i can trans his infatry).

Like said before. Being immobile is stupid and going to get you killed not to mention wasting resources. Also i find it quite easy to think of were a nuke would strike. Look at the points of control then were the bulk of friendlys are.

Also if i can stop 3 heavy, 4 meduim, and 2 light tanks with only 3 squads of anti-tank infantry then i belive infantry does indeed not suck.

if you miss him... try, try again

Im up for a game of two...

Btw Spaz when playing infantry the best tactic is to have an army (trust me on this one). Infantry squads can take down choppers before you can say "AA"
