Default Royal artillery anyone ?

The waiting is over , i always wanted to know

Why, on the british 105's do they load the round and the case separately ??
I (Canadian artillery) load both like a rifle cartridge. I just dont see why it could be otherwise.

Not to sure what you are talking about but I assume you are talking about they load the round and than put a powder charge behind it to fire it? I believe they do this so they can adjust the range by adding more powder charges but I am not entirely sure.

they do it not only at the first round but all way trough the firing method.

If you have to change charge its because there is a chance of rebound or hiting an obstacle (mountain). If so you will need to change the timing of the fuze and if its already in the chamber....

I work with a gunner i will ask him today, i think we are one of the few nations to retain lots of 2/3 part ammo, tanks do it too.

Edit:Having just asked him, the L118 gun uses a single piece ammunition and the L119 gun uses seperate charges and projectile purely for more flexibility when firing at greater ranges. This remains the same when moving to 155mm as well. He also mentioned the Royal Artillary looked into modular ammunition across the board but after trials they came to the conclusion it wasnt as flexible and they were better off keeping seperate charges and projectiles.

Hope this helps.
