Taking games too seriously.

This is a must read. Its about Venezuela refering to the upcoming Mercenaries 2: World in Flames. They have people over there who don't like the concept, read on.

Lol yeah I saw that. Once again Hugo is trying to make it seem like the US want's to invade Venuzela.

Well, it’s a bit rough, saying the game is actually out to indoctrinate people..
But the phrase “ ..settle an oil dispute, take on “a power hungry tyrant”, and blow up lots of stuff.” does ring a bell..
Hugo Chavez (democratically elected president) was in fact nearly overthrown during a coup by forces supported by the oil industry.
The story strikes close to actual resent events and, as it seems, turns the President of the country into “a power hungry tyrant”..

Although it is just a game.. it includes what could be seen as propaganda..
why is the story not about helping the president defend the interests of the people against an attack of the “power hungry” oil industry..???

That would be equally exciting AND taking the right side in the conflict ACTUALLY at hand..

I can understand if they don't like this game and that they see it as political propaganda. Almost every FPS game has some aspect that can be seen as political propaganda (for example America's Army, I don't think I have to explain why). I don't play a lot of games because of this.

Since when has anyone in the US supported Chavez? No propoganda needed there.

Ubisoft's Ghost Recon 2 was called "propaganda" by a government-run newspaper in North Korea.
This is the funniest thing I've heard in a while; I meen, a government run newspaper yelling about propoganda!

The original game was fun. I enjoyed blowing buildings up and what not.

I also believe that it is just a game and should not be take too seriously.

I support Chavez and what he says. The truth hurts. I can't imagine why this game would take place in such a random-ass place. I mean, is it gonna be like the first Mercenaries, but now instead of hunting down rogue NK officials, we're hunting Venezuelens? BORING...
