Dont bash the game. They have addicted so many people that are now not crashing helicopters at Jabal, i think it is a good think.

Seriously, its not the games fault, its the people. I doubt the game makes them... uhm... "Unstable", thats the way they are.

And no, i'm not playing WOW or any MMO.

WOW should come with a health warning, (I am actually only half joking) saying, "Warning, this game can be highly addictive".

For years there has been games that are addictive, and I am certain that every Old School Gamer on the forum has their own story to tell of the game that had them playing for almost 24 hours straight without eating, or made them almost loose their job, or had them not attend school for three days.

The addictiveness of games is not news, though in the past you played single player games that forced you back to reality once ended. Also the older a gamer you are, the easier you pick up on the warning signs of addiction, and you force yourself away from the machine to boil some noodles, and catch a 20 min nap.

MMo's provide a world that is never-ending, the more you play the more powerful you get, higher level, greater strength, more people know who you are, you get better equipment that is desired by others, and you can defeat other players and earn a name for yourself.

If you are going through any level of stress, depression or trauma in your life, like any good game it provide a great form of escapism. A little bit of escapism is fine, but for many thousands of people, Mmo's becomes a way to postpone having to face with their own real life problems.

Unlike Singleplayer you are interacting with real people, which draw you in to a community of individuals that you build relationships with, and provide friendship and fuels your enthusiasm for the game, and often will give you a sense of belonging. - PR is like that in a positive way, the community and the people you know and play with are partially what makes this game fun and a little addictive, but because BF2 rounds is no longer than three hours, and there is no achievement to be made, you are forced to face real life, toilet breaks and sleep.

Why Wow especially stands out is because Wow attracted a lot of players that had never played Multiplayers before, or in some cases computer games. It has over 9 million subscribers, so naturally it has the most horror stories as well.

People who came unprepared to the addictiveness of Mmo's, or had no idea that if you have any social struggles, this type of games can give a fake sense of acceptance and appreciation, when your level 40 Hunter Dwarf kills another famous character, with his uber purple sword that is the only one on the server and is the envy of your clan.

Why be 23 year old Dave who got a wife that is thinking divorce, is an unappreciated Code-monkey, getting paid barely enough to cover the bills of their flat, when you can be Gorbash the mighty Druid Orc, saviour of Azeroth, feared by all.
