I've seen this posted about 8 months ago on another forum. I think it's just a waste of processing power imo. We already have pretty accurate conditions of future climate.

How is it a waste of processing power if you are not using the processing power in the first place

You could turn your computer off and spare the coal-burning power plants the power in the first place.

You could just be on MSN/XFIRE/OPEN OFFICE etc which uses say 15% of processing power...so you have your PC on but your not taking full advantage of it

Being a climate freak, sort of, I'm in.
Even though it tells me it will need approximately 3000 hours(!!) to complete....

Yikes! My aching CPU!

the idea of it is that evry computer develops a different set of results and these are send back to the blokes who run this.

the reason it is done for download is because programs like this are normally run on super computers but there isn't a super computer big enough so they simplified it for the PC and the more people who run the program the more accurate the results are.

oh and 8 months ago??

this was started in febuary.

I wonder why the BBC are doing that when there has already been a climate change experiment running for a long time now.
