Warzone 2100

Anyone remember that strategy game waaaay back in 1999, by the name of warzone 2100. The game essentially got my into strategy games, single handedly.
These day's, its dated. Looks crap. But, ive just discovered that the developers made it open source a while back.

Download link is http://www.fileplanet.com/hosteddl.a...arzone2100.rar

For all those fanboys who cant stand to play a game with anything less than the latest Unreal engine, dont even bother. For those of you, however, can appreciate a classic, and look past the aged engine, will be plesently surprised with this game. Besides, all the best things are free.

America was a tad late into the First World War. They redeemed themself's and came in slightly sooner in the Second. Now they seem determined to start the Third.

Ah warzone 2100, back in the good old days when having a 3D RTS was a bit, well, odd. Damn fine game, I just loved upgrading and designing new units and thinking to my self, suck my new HMG/Viper/halftrcks you new paradagim gits!

and later in the game there were some crazy weapons that kept me entertained and lent some variety to my otherwise rather similar army, practicaly every ground unit was heavy cannon/cobra/tracks. Not very fast by with a bit of arty and VTOL support capable of crushing just about any base if you had enough and the resourses and production facilites to keep the pressure mounting. And a few repair vehicles into the mix to keep yer tanks in the fight and you're set.

The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

oh man I'm only 19 but now I feel old lol

God I remember that game so well, actually *looks over to Game rack* there it is! rofl

The creativity in that game rocked, it was simple but it gave you so much more freedom than other games. Hell it still does beat some games in terms of freedom
