Check out the stuff from Tritton. They are true 5.1 surround sound, with multiple speakers in each ear cup. It has a very good mic and are very comfortable to wear all day. They have a bunch of different models, some as low as $79.
http://www.trittontechnologies.com/ Actually just checked newegg, and looks like a bunch of new models just got released: Newegg.com - Headsets & Accessories, tritton |

Spriggan its alot about preference.
What kind of comfort you like on your head and each headphones has different kind of "sound" to it, not necesarily bad or good quality just different (Were talking any headphones that cost 100$ or more here). Dont buy anything less than 100$, you get what you paid for and youll be unsatisfied IMO. Myself Im using sennheiser 161, I like the sound of sennheiser its a good range of sound and the 3d positional is great cause each side has 3 speakers (bass, mid, high). I might upgrade to the more expensive ones but I dont like the fact that they are noise cancelling (cant hear whats happening around you). I like to be able to hear my house and when Im lanning be able to talk to people around me and still keep my headphonse on when playing, so keep that in mind when buying "noise cancelling" headphones that youll be deaf to things around your PC. |

You won't find a headset with good sound. High quality headphones and a separate mic is the way to go for really good sound.

Plantronics is the way to go. $20 bought me two years of reliable, quality sound and mic. Then I ripped the cords in half by accident, and bought another Plantronics.
