That's not as simple as you might think - the possessive 'its' is the exception to the rule. Any other time you would put an apostrophe there. For example, "The house's roof is missing' becomes 'Its roof is missing'. Sounds like a group of English teachers fighting. I hear alot of "country folk" say "Ya'll recon we're done here" and what they really mean is "Do you think you are done?", but I don't see no one trying to write a book on it, especially when there's alot more who speak with the same accent and same grammar. The English language to many in America is cultural and not traditional. Alot of people goto Jamaica and have to hear things repeated to them before they even realise they're speaking English.
