Okay, last night i experienced Terminator Salvation. My conclusion: its not super awesome but it’s not bad either. It’s a solid foundation for future Terminator stuff. Thus all the good still to come. Contrary to most old fans, i like the fact that there is almost no character-development deployed, as in the previous movies. Lets face it, nuclear holocaust followed by years of being constantly hunted by terminators will not leave time, energy or interest in developing ones personality. Cause there is not enough energy, time or interests in doing that. Its war, war after a doomsday, with evil machines all over the foxtrot place, thus life simply goes back to basic where one care only about to stay alive in the heart as well as in the mind. Nothing else. The Terminators are as cold and hardcore as expected. I could though have used some more robotic tactics though, embedded in the logics emerging from self-conscious software. But who knows, maybe stuff like that will be deployed in the upcoming parts? I think one of the reasons why so many old fans feels a need to compare TS, to the second terminator movie, is due to the fact that T II simply was loaded with new graphical technology. And the third as well as now the fourth part of Terminator cinematic story, somehow still has to live up to that graphical blitzkrieg chock the second deployed in front of our eyes back then. Quote:
Finally I honestly found small parts of the movie boring. There was too much of the classical A hits B who then hits A again and so on. I would have loved to see Skynet having a completely different perception on the war than what's presented. Stuff like Skynet not being aware of the fact that it was a war, but maybe “only” creation of form, or that the human factor in this disturbance [the war] was a loop in an array or something. Quote:
In overall it’s a nice movie and it actually gave me an idea for a futuristic social strategy as well. A strategy that can contribute in the termination of some of those still existing logics from the industrialised society. This is Michael Denmark

it's probably a cool movie, but it seems to be built up around special effects like a lot of the last generation movies are. check T2 and say it isn't an awesome move. the terminator is the main character ffs ;D lots of interesting characters AND effects. it's the complete package and one of my favorite movies.
i'd watch this for the effects orgy a'la transformers. and on a side note: |

Found it boring, character wise, story wise, action wise ...
So quick fly by: - John Connor is flat, you have no idea he actually had the childhood we observed in the past 2 movies. - The new character + the robots ultimate strategy feels like just poor excuses to mix action plus the discovery of son & dad and in the end was plain ridiculous. -The moments with big bad robots I expected them to have the transformers wizzzzzz by to say "hi!" Really really disappointed with this one, as at the same time I found the "Terminator : Sarah Connors chronicles" was exploring much more interesting directions (all the more with its season/series end) |

The only acceptable 'Lone Wolf' you'll be allowed to play :

Well, i really haven't thought about ratings, cause in this battle I went into the cinematic front-line expecting to be pounded with something completely new and mind breaking, something deploying robotic warfare from the perception of a software program, thus not from the perception of a human mind assuming a software would view war as we do. Not sure about the rating thb, need to think about that.

What kind of ruined it for me is that when he first see's the T800 he tries to "kill it" with a M4.... You'd think his history with the T800 would make him realize that he may as well have spit at it not to mention that he would've kept dogs close by to sniff out the "skin jobs". The whole "well if they succeed the past won't matter" ploy to keep up the suspense was fairly weak (we knew who had to live in order for the first three movies to have made any sense) but some of the action wasn't half bad.
I just wonder how many more movies they're going to try and squeeze out of this franchise. We know who's going to win in the end. After all....we've got Batman! |
