Default Teamspeak 3 vs. Mumble

I read that the new America's Army 2 is going to be released in June 17th. But this thread is not about AA2, but it is about something wich will be released with AA2, Teamspeak version 3.

If you doesn't know about TS3 yet, I recommend you to take a look here: TeamSpeak - TeamSpeak 3

There is a part from that link wich called my atention:

Quote:
Introducing 3D Sound

TeamSpeak 3 now features fully integrated 3D Sound support which allows for spatial placement of sound effects and audio streams. This creates the illusion of a sound source being placed anywhere in three dimensional space, including behind, to the left of, to the right of, above, or below the listener. The possibilities and applications of 3D Sound are virtually endless with TeamSpeak 3.

What now, mumble or TS3 ? I know we can't see the future and say exactly wich will be the best, but what is your guess ?

If TS3 is easy to configure and if they have a 3D audio control server side, my vote goes to TS3. I belive it is a lot easier to ask people to get the new TS3 than to tell them to get Mumble, wich most don't have a simple idea what mumble is about.

note for mods: I made a search before posting, but the trhead I found is very old and there is nothing about mumble in it.

[R-DEV]Rhino:"I in fact got kicked from a server for tking."
Hitperson:"well done, treasure it forever."
[R-DEV]Rudd:"if a pidgeon lands on the phone line I lose internet for 3 days"
[R-DEV]Chuc:"Pro man, pro."
(yes, it was about me)
[R-MOD]BloodBane611:"Romagnolo, you definitely deserve a LOL award for that."

Well wait and see test it out Personally it's a great feature of TS3 and i can't wait to see its performance in game. I think TS is more user friendly than mumble, probally since i use it more often. And the thing i hate about mumble most is that each time a player joins or leaves a channel, that particular channel expands. Cant' see your own channel anymore :\

If TS keeps the crappy sound quality, then I will choose mumble 10/10

Sure, mumble audio quality is many times better than the actuall TS2.

Improved Voice Quality

TeamSpeak 3's voice quality is truly revolutionary. Featuring completely new codecs, automatic microphone adjustment, advanced noise reduction, and echo cancelation TeamSpeak 3 offers only the highest quality in voice communication. TeamSpeak 3 users can finally say goodbye to echo, feedback, and background buzzing noises as the evolution of quality voice communication has arrived.
But how good will it be?

One good thing about mumble is that theres one central PR channel, plus its much more customisable due to it being open source.

Some guys are working on the mumble code, so that you will automatically join the right mumble channel, on the right team, when you join a PR server - it that works out it will be cool

one of the biggest features of mumble - it is opensource, so devs can do whatever they want to make it suitable for PR

Yeah, this is why my vote goes for Mumble.

No1 should commit themselves yet

Opensource is great, but there are aspects of Teamspeak that are superior to mumble, its much easier to create channels etc in TS2, if that can combine aspects like that in TS3 with tehpositional audio, then it shall compete with gusto. like u said.

If TS3 turns out to be better than mumble in every way, that can only be good for us!
