The "Not Forgotten" Association
Ladies and Gents,
If you are serving or are ex-service personnel or even members of a military family you may have been aware of their involement in some kind of fund raising, if you are not from a military background I am sure you are aware of the very few charitys looking after military personnel. I`m am running in something called the Elephant Run, London to Southampton 90 miles. Elephant Run - Home It is in aid of the "Not Forgotten" Assosiation this charity has been around since 1920 and they do very similar work like the charity help for heros, but have been going longer, There are thousands of disabled ex-servicemen and women in this country. They have been injured in conflicts around the globe over many decades. Now most of them are elderly and often frail and although their essential needs may be provided for, The "Not Forgotten" Association is able to give them some of the "extras" which most of us take for granted, something to look forward to – something to make life worth living. Those eligible are ex-service or serving men and women who have a War Pension or are in receipt of compensation from the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme or who are currently suffering from some form of ill-health. We ensure that they are not forgotten by providing them things which brings a little happiness and joy into their lives. The credit crunch has hit this charity hard, they have done very little fundraising in the past but have had to ask for help to continue there very important and needed work. The 'Not Forgotten' Association - Home I have had some very nice words of support with some very kind donations, If you could please dig deep and ANYTHING you can spare donate to the team so we can provide a hopefully large cheque to the charity within the next few weeks. A very kind donation from the team, thanks for the messages of support, today a few of us hit 15 miles with ease and we are sure we are able with the extra time to achieve this ... we hope
Collections have been great raised over £3000.00 in three days and we are planning more in the near future.. More entrys and pics to follow... |
