SWAT 3 and SWAT 4 if you want pure CQB tactical shooters. SWAT 3 was actually better than SWAT 4 cus of the mods for it and the way to make it even more realistic. I am sure SWAT 4 is probably up to par now though.

In terms of military shooters, I agree that Ghost Recon and some of the Rainbow Six games, but those are only good for single player, not multiplayer. PR is still the best multiplayer tactical shooter out.

GRAW was fun, but it was garbage IMO cus of the third person view.

hmm, were you playing on console or something? GRAW 2 on PC is pure 1st person.

I looked up Rainbow Six 3 and Ghost recon and neither look very tactical to be honest lol. Lack of 3rd person is the only realistic difference I've noticed.

You looked them up? Just screenshots? a noob playing on youtube?

Rainbow Six, the early iterations, are works of art. Raven Shield was damn near perfect in a lot of areas. They even had varying reloads depending on if it was a mid-mag reload[with the semi-used mag going into the cycle], a fully discharged and bolt forward reload, or one round left in the chamber reload.

Im not sure of many other games having that...

Perfect portrayal of SMGs, rifles and carbines in terms of deviation while moving and standing still[rifles get more accurate when still but SMGs are best on the move/tighten up faster]

A wound system

One or two hit kills

Brutal missions

You should note that Raven Shield appears as the best implementation of many if not most of the main points


And the original Ghost Recon was just a great game in that it took what the Rainbow games had and put it into a military setting. Had its rough spots but it was a great game that SHOULD have been perfected over the years... unfortunately it was too late and the later GR's fell victim to the same fate that the later R6 games did... consoles, kiddies, and a capitalist desire for mass market appeal.

The AI in the original wasnt AMAZING, but it was pretty good for such an old game. YouTube - Original Ghost Recon's AI

Take a shot at one enemy in a squad, one or two would drop to a knee, look for you or put fire down where the shots came from while another would run for cover/flank

Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear (and subsequent expansion packs), and Rainbow Six: Raven Shield are the only good Tom Clancy games out there.
