Hey guys, I used to work out pretty regularly for a while until last summer, pretty much dropped it then as I had other stuff to do. Don't really like the fact that I'm really starting to slim down, so looking to get back into it, probably going to go to the one my girlfriend's brother has been going to for the last month (so motivation is ok as he can simply drag me along). Anyone know of some good easy guides as to what it best workout/eating wise? Not looking for anything too complicated, and live at home so can't go for some special diet, just looking for some basic advice. Thanks in advance

Just to clarify things: not going for a pumped-up kind of look, just don't want to go back to being thin as a stick. |

Take it easy at first, no heavy weights. I eat "normal" Swedish food and no candy etc and it works great for me, if you don't eat unhealthy food and exercise right you don't need any special diet.
And then again I'm no expert, infact you should not listen to me at all but I do work out A LOT so you would think I know something. :P |

If you have a mate to train with I would suggest some wrestling, punching, kicking, boxingstance training, running, stuff like that, and weights in between.
Keeps me in good shape atleast, some 4-6 times a week (I have finished my final exams right now and I have all the time in the world until 13.7.09, might be different for you) And like Spaz said: sweeties are a big nono. |

I spend half my wake time in the gym but I don't work hard to build muscles, I do a lot of endurance training and just lifting semi easy weights but never doing less then 20 reps.

Judging by pics i´ve seen in that other thread, you are a naturally skinny guy.
So don´t worry about getting to huge Lift weights three times a week. Stick to basic exercises that involve the big musclegroups. Do one of these musclegroup per session. Example: First day - Leg day (five different exercises) Second day - Chest and shoulders (five diffrent exercises) Third day - Back (five diffrent exercises) Don´t start maxing out with the weights for the first two weeks. After that you could do three sets with max eight repetions on each exercise. If you can do more than eight reps it´s not heavy enough. Eat and rest alot. You will need to stay away from running and other calorieburning activities as you will need those calories to get bigger. Good luck |
