No thanks.

1. Maintenance of the hardware. Computers & software malfunction in 1000million ways all the time and I really doubt that they will be able to hire enough people to fix every single bug that occurs for just You. Just this weekend out of the blue BF2 removed my cdkey from the registry and I was forced to add it again. How long would such a simple thing take to be done?

2. I don't trust the internet stability. Same reason that I don't stream things/music over the web

3. I like being in Control of MY hardware/software and not have to deal with any sort of middle man.

4. I Really doubt current internet connections will make this technology plausible for the next 10 years until most of the world have converted to Fibre. I mean seriously the UK are only now fixing their wires so that most homes have access to decent connections.

5. Will kill off awesome LAN parties/gatherings... (Really doubt it will though)

6. I Really doubt hard core gamers will give up actually owning PC's. I know I wont for a very very long time yet. (Until I am assured 100% that all above work fine by at least 100 people I know in a period of at least 5 years)

7. I like actually owning my stuff and not entrusting it to someone else's care. Call my a cynic but after being raised with 3 brothers I have learned not to trust Anyone with my stuff.

8. Since these companies will have monopoly on all hardware purchases they can abuse the users at their will. Ex, not upgrading computers/ending up as consoles with an upgrade every 5 years instead of a constant stream of technological advances in all fields. In general monopolies are bad for obvious reasons.

9. I don't believe in ANY CLAIMS AT ALL that they are making right now until its been released and stress tested by the most geekish people on this planet. Especially ANY about network connections.

10. I'd like to see a 64 player server populated with only people using onlive right now. I predict that packets will take at least 2x the time to be sent: From your comp, to onlive, to the actual game servers host location, then back to onlive station and finally back to you.

I dont think this is A: a replacement to video gaming per se or B: certainly not a replacement to online gaming, not ofr the near future anyway.... I think that this sort of tech will definately be aimed at consoles more than PCs anyway tbh....

Well the last 3 conversations I have had with people in RL have started with "PCGaming is Dead" or something similar which is just pure bs and I assumed that the reason they are spewing that crap (^^) out is because IGN w/e have been reporting such things.

Another problem for me: I have a download limit. I don't even want to know how badly that would be raped by a system like this.

Heh, host families wireless internet... not like my crappy laptop here can play online games though...

Thats really col and I could see it taking off. OnDemand cable and such is a cool concept, it could potentially be a great benefit for gaming to go this route. No worries about compatibility just they need to keep up on servers and such.

Would hope theyd get a nice decent priced subscriber service... though if they get a monopoly on the gaming world I could see it becoming problematic...

Cool though, stuff like this and photosynth and silverlight are really cool new techs

All you'd need is something capable of playing a dvd.
