Post your ideas for a game

if you could lead the development of a game @ a professional gaming company of your choice
  • what would it look like?
  • how would it play?
  • what would the theme be?

i'd like to see you post what you'd like to play (the longer description the better). reference pictures are welcome!

the rest of you can thumb it up or down etc.
i'll make a post in a while

Life.

Total choice; do whatever you want. Control a person from cradle to grave, making every choice needed along the way, with appropriate consequences.

Take The Sims, add buckets more scope and control over an individual.

DAMNIT THAT WAS MY IDEA.

seriously i thought it would be a kick ass game (esp if it is done in real time).

Or my other idea a real time flight sim where it updates from ATC info in real time allowing you to fly with real traffic. (or be on a flight it's self)

i've always wanted a realistic samurai adventure/rpg with a lot of cities/environments.

- late 1600s (edo/tokugawa period) in japan.

- young ronin tracing the legendary miyamoto musashi (for some reason).

- no monsters or magic, just great story and crazy characters with awesome old weapons.

- realistic swordsplay with emphasis of dodging before blocking. a lot of one-hit-kills and dynamic damage affecting movement (bushido blade)

- i'd probably use some a limited set of "time rewind" (like prince of persia sands of time and braid) tokens that you can replenish at save points and inns. so instead of you taking 5 chest stabs before you die, you have like 5 tries to rewind time and retry the attack.

otherwise, assassin's creed made a lot of things right when it comes to towns, and the fighting is decent. a lot of great ideas.

YouTube Video

i'd really want a lot of RPG elements in the game. customize your characters appearance, force him to maintain all the weapons at blacksmiths (and modify them etc). and an assload of weapons you can buy/steak/pick up from opponents/earn etc. have a read:

actually, a somewhat serious game based on "lone wolf and cub" or "blade of the immortal" would be awesome. sure, blade of the immortal has blood worms, but i think the concept would translate well with the regeneration.

cue character reference explosion:

you feeling it!? HUH!? ;D
yeah, i know there are a lot of stupid/bad samurai games. i'd do this one epic <3

Real-time life sim? Whew...long time Maybe real life with skip... ability to skip the 8 hours sleeping and 2 hours driving to work and back

Real-time ATC would be interesting, though probably a security risk.

Am I uncreative if I'd just create a good, realistic sequel to the SWAT series? Something set in CQB, with focus on the choice between using lethal force or not within short time, and with something new control-wise, somewhat like ArmA to some point - having arm and body movement be seperated somehow, but without crosshairs or any indicators of that kind - the body should instead use the same model 3rd and 1st person (with different level of detail, of course) and you should simply navigate your body without any indicators, except from an inventory/body check for wounds system, that might need some kind of HUD, though limited to the very situation in which you'd be searching gear or looking for wounds. Aside from that, the only HUD element would be something to indicate pain, stress and fear, like the PR suppression effect. With pretty intuitive controls instead of the usual middle-of-screen-is-where-you-shoot stuff - unless of course you look through optics/ironsights. The same system should be used for moving or picking up objects, you'd actually move your hand (which like I said would be an object in the 3D world and not just an overlay) with the mouse to the object you intend to use. If someone would make something like that which isn't hard to control, it'd add alot to a game.

I once thought of a mix between Company of Heroes and Hearts of Iron, but I have no idea how that would work out.

Also any game with the Maus tank would be epic fap.

i'd love a new swat, and i agree with the choice of lethal vs non lethal. in swat 4 you could run around and shoot before screaming "get down! police" etc
it would be pretty bad ass, especially if the levels are cool.
