glad to see the strat came to good use in that last vid ;D

have you guys been watching wildwood guitars' videos on youtube? basically a guitarshop demoing the guitars they have for sale, but the guy doing it is super goofy and super versatile so he has recieved a cult following on his own. check this one for example:

in other news, found this vintage flying V in mint condition at chelsea guitars on manhattan. the pickguard plastic was still there, like wtf. and why not have a bigsby on it, amirite? i actually think it was either owned by or made inspired by lonnie mack.
6000 dollars.

Zloyrash, 10/10 for that SRV. Really nice playing.

been Gretschin' today!
will definitely be buying a gretsch, but i can't decide on a model.
did a head-to-head comparison of two differently priced modelsmodels through a fender deluxe reverb.
  • first i tried a electromatic with centerblock, their new, affordable line with less feedback. great acoustic/unplugged resonance and rather easy to play. 861 euro / $1090
  • second was a chet atkins signature with different pickups. a bit sleeker to play but not as much acoustic resonance. 3283 euro / $4152

went in with the notion that the atkins couldn't warrant the higher price, but man, the mellow bass of that guitar was so tasteful. it was like a bell. we concluded that it sounded 10x better than the electromatic, which would kinda warrant the 4x higher pricetag.
what i really wanted to try was one with tv jones pickups, but i didn't find one.

youtube study (for whatever his shit quality recording is worth):

my friend showed me some squier classic vibe guitars. squire, i know, i made the same face. his point was that one of these precision squires were tighter than low hanging fender strats in the same price range. i played a telecaster which was rather twangy and nice. not bad guitars at all.

Bump!

As this year's NAMM 2015 in CA has passed, there has been a lot of awesome stuff being presented (and others which i'm still catching up on). Being how/who I am, I am the most excited about the new Hotrod and Nashville Gretsch-guitars with the new, Setzer approved TV Jones signature pickups.

I sold a Tanglewood acoustic and used the money towards finally getting a Gretsch.
Happy with is so far, just a bit weary of the unpinned bridge but there are ways to fixate it so i'll look into that when changing the strings.
