I refuse to learn Spanish because it's my own little way of resistance to the onslaught of the hispanic culture. Our government and the immigrants seem to want us to conform to their way of life, when in reality they are the ones who need to adjust to living in an English-speaking, first-world nation.

I will never ever take a Spanish class, I will never speak Spanish in America. When I went to Italy, I spoke only Italian, I would expect the same respect from an Italian coming to America, or a Mexican coming to the states. Sadly, not all Mexicans give two craps about this country or its people.

I think if we all got together and made a stand that we will not adjust to foreigners who should be adjusting to us, then America would be a more stable, unified place.

What is it with the English and the French?

I have to say, French wouldn't be my favorite language, but I don't mind the French or their language at all.

I think this whole thing is a bunch of crap - my area (around Phoenix Arizona) is one of the biggest places they are doing this riot/strike/march thing, argueing that the US should have open borders - at LEAST half the mexicans invovled in this are illegal - so basically they might as well be asking to make marijuana legal (without the bullshit "medicinal use" excuse even)...

that and one of the biggest things that turns me off about it is they go to these damn rallies, supposedly because they love the hell out of America and wanna stay here, but then they got people bringing mexican flags

from what I heard, after they finished on of the big marches, they took an American flag, AND OUT OF SHEER STUPIDITIY DRAGGED IT ACROSS THE GROUND - it's common fucking sense that you don't do something like that, don't do to somebody else's flag what you wouldnt do to your homecountry's flag...

I'm for Puerto Rico. Our culture is hispanic and our first language is Spanish.

First off, I disagree with foreigners trying to change the national anthem of a country (regardless of the country's anthem at stake). National Anthems have historic, and cultural value, among other attributes, and shouldnt be the subject of political stunts, and such.

Unfortunately, some Puertorrican figures are also participating in that stunt, and I have no freaking clue why (Ivy Queen, Olga Ta~non also I believe?).

That proves that ignorance knows no bounds, regardless of country, origin, heritage, or any other kind of "border" you can imagine. Based on that, it would also be appreciated if comments regarding rivalry between countries are avoided. Thanks

We get French, German and English at my school.

French pwns German.

English pwns French.

Dutch pwns English.

In Oklahoma, nobody realizes that a huge population of Europe speaks either English or German. All I ever hear is "Spanish is the future, get with the times." They don't know what they are talking about. It seems like all Oklahomans see is what is around them. They can't seem to comprehend that there is a world outside of their worthless state...

English is such a huge language because of its ability to absorb other languages into its makeup. French is a major component of English, as is Latin and to a lesser extent German. Various Scandinavian languages have also made an impact on the development of English. Of course, as an Englishman I am totally biased, but IMO my language should continue to be the lingua franca.

you would be surprised how much english words sound like german words - in my opinion more than french (more german words sound like english than french english) - the great thing about english is, it´s so easy to learn, unlike french, which is just difficult (at least for me)
